Sodbuster...and lots of them!

I have to admit that I did not like the sod buster base on it's simple looks. But, in hand it is a real beauty. I have two now.

Trevytrev, the bonestag sodbuster looks great...gotta plan on one of those! Get set!!!

So after using modern Spydercos’ for several years, a couple of years ago I find this forum (Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades). They remind me of my childhood in the 60’s so I decide to buy several Rough Riders in order to see what pattern, size, covers, I prefer. It’s seemed to be an inexpensive way to try lots of variations until I find my favorites. Then I just gift the one’s I don’t care for in the hopes of getting more people into the hobby.

After several months I end up with a few nice Cases and GEC’s and all’s good and I figure I’m done. Then I stumble upon a thread on Sodbusters and it’s like, wow, these look great. No bolsters, no fancy back-springs, just a good clean workman knife … But really beautiful in a spartan kind of way.

That was a week ago … here’s what showed up this week. The GEC I purchased in the past and of course isn’t a Sod, but it has a very similar blade and size, so I used it when I was determining to try some Sodbuster Jrs. (which I prefer over the full-size models). Right now I feel like the Sod Jr. will be my EDC for a while. Since I work in an office, it's more than enough.

Of course we love photos. These are from Rough Rider, Kissing Crane, Case, A.G. Russell, and Schrade. Look at that beautiful patina on the Case in only one week of use (cutting limes for cocktails)! As usual, I’m waiting for more GECs’ to become available new (the patterns I want are never around when I want to buy). Love these knives, but as I said, you guys are killing me ...

O1 user, and a fine one at that. I will never sell this knife, these slight mods make it ...Just right...
The notch disappears under the ring finger in use and adds just enough purchase to easily pinch open.

And here is the family shot, I'll be replacing the photo on the front page with this and labeling them!

Thanks for posting this pic. It's hard to tell what the different colors of bone look like by the stock photos on the web. The pocket work whiskey and green apple bone are calling my name.

Good ones! Love seeing a good used bullnose. Just picked a Limited edition Case Sodbuster Jr JD Crow Signature Jade with Banjo Shield. Has great color and came in a cool tin. I have no idea who JD Crowe, but it's a cool soddie! Case has a few more coming down the pipe in the next couple of months as well!

I still need to get my own pic but this is what it looks like

J.D. Crowe is a bluegrass giant. J.D Crowe and the New South album from 1976 has the up and coming Tony Rice on it.
