Sodbuster...and lots of them!

My two year old took an interest in my Yella Sodbuster Jr. this evening.

Nothing finer in life than a Daughter and a good pocketknife

Went to a wizards game and forgot I had my SBJ in my pocket. Security took it from me after a metal detector sweep. After the game I went to Guest Services to get it back, and found out the security guard didn't turn it in. So, some security guard with an integrity problem has my SBJ now.

Hope you enjoy it!!! [emoji35]

I'm just glad it wasn't my GEC bullnose that is usually in that pocket.

This reminds me that after the Parisian slaughter in Bataclan , security has been raised everywhere.
I'm a supporter of the Stade Français rugby team (2014-15 champ ). After the events, the first time I went to the stadium, I had my Joseph Rodgers scout knife as usual.
There where two security check points. The second was much closer and they told me I had a knife I should leave to Guest service. So I gave my keys where it was attached to. They stared at me and then I realized that they thought my fountain pen (in a sheath) was a knife, but did not notice the scout.
BTW, a fountain pen and a villain can do much harm, much more than a good boy and his knife. During the Resistance of WWII, they were teached how to get trains off the rails with a simple matchbox.
Let's hope matches won't get forbidden.

As I said elsewhere, I was curious about Bear & Sons knives. Recently I ordered a Blue Jeans Series G37b Farmhand, blue G10 (no liner), 3,5/8"; 3 1/2" blade, 1,9oz.
Ordered somewhere in Michigan on 02/11, received this morning, a reasonnable 12 days later.
As I said elsewhere, I m really pleased with this very light knife, looks sturdy, good W & T (less snap on the opening than on the closing), F & F ok, remember that this is G10, an expensive and very strong material, no need of liners, so easier to adjust I do believe.
The blade came tip-top centered, sharp if not hair-cutting, smooth action at the opening, pull is 3 1/2 - 4, perfectly in line with the spring in all dimensions. I'm sure I'll love that one with her jean pocket shaped shield.
And now I have my BLUE knife! :D
Came seriously wrapped, in a nice box with dramatic drawings of US flag and bear (what else).

I gotta buy a bear and sons blue jean soddie because im the local denim lord. Wont catch me one day a year without jeans, denim shirt, overalls, or a full canadian tuxedo :D.

Edit: For some reason I had thought they were a Michigan made company, I guess not.

Bear's QC has been hit or miss, for sure. I have one or two "brand new" knives by them that would have qualified as factory seconds from most other manufacturers. That being said, I've got a few of their knives that defy the reputation they seem to have earned. There's a Keen Kutter-branded buffalo horn one-armed Barlow that is quite a nice example of the pattern, and a trapper I've had for a while (will have to check; it may also be branded Keen Kutter :o) that is built solid and tight. While it does seem that Bear might try taking some shortcuts to keep their costs down and avoid the "premium" traditionals market, I think they can represent American cutlery fairly well when diligent and I'd like nothing more than to see them try to ramp up the inspection of the pieces that come out of their factory. If they can cut down on the disappointment factor of customers opening their "brand new" knives and finding bad grinds, liner gaps and rubbing blades I think maybe they could carve out an even bigger niche in the industry and shed some of that stigma. If RR could get its own little cult, I'm sure Bear & Son could manage some positive press. If they keep putting out knives like Jolipapa's blue jeans soddie it will certainly start tipping the scales in their favor.

Another one joined his mates, a Workman navy junior Case. Impressively sharp out of the box!

Natural patina Delrin Case pattern #31 and Bear & Sons featuring incredibly off centered blade in liner-less G10.

The synthetic handles are really grippy, associated with an out-of-the-box razor like sharpness, a perfectly centered blade when closed, and also perfectly flush with the spring blade when opened, all for the astronomic price of 12$...

An updated group photo of my Bull Nose # 71s. I carry the one with green canvas micarta covers and bail everyday. Note how it has darkened considerably when compared to it's match to the right.

And their ugly sister!! A mudbug with red linen micarta covers.
