Sodbusters, whos got em'?

I've only recently rediscovered traditional knives after years of more modern patterns.

Here are the two sodbusters I've recently purchased as a result of my exposure to you guys on this subforum.

Case & Queen sodbusters

That a beautiful wood handle sodbuster! Is the wood Bocote?

Add me to the club. My Case Soddies arrived today. One of them is soakin' in juice right now. :)

Man, some of those dressier soddies are something else. I've always kept a few but they are all cheapies. The cheapies make great work knives that you don't lose much sleep over if you misplace one. Here is a blurry pic of my 'bargain' soddies. Two Case, a Boker, A Kissing Crane, a German Bull (actually has nice horn handles), Bulldog Brand and a... ahem... Rough Rider. Bottom right is an Oppie that I reshaped a little. It isn't a Soddie but I still love it. As for the Rough Rider, I carried it at work for years as my 'crap knife', but it is none the worse for wear, it has kinda surprised me in that regard.

I've posted a pic of this one before but, since I don't have pics of any others handy (well, that, and it happens to be my current favorite :D)...

ETA: Sorry for the ginormous size - I'm on my iPhone and can't resize; will fix it when I get to my comp.:o

I have a yellow and black Case Sod Jr's, but they look like everyone elses, so I won't bother posting pics. But I did not know they made them with more than yellow and black handles. I really like the bone handles. I will have to keep an eye out for them.

I'm pretty sure the wood and micarta handled Cases are user customized, not factory. Case doesn't typically make bone or stag handled sodbusters, either. They do occasionally make different colored plastic handles other than black or yellow, however. They're usually limited runs. They just came out with a large blue sodbuster about a month ago.

Found these unnamed/unmarked makers on Evilbay and thought I would give them a shot. Local guys in Appalachian North Carolina put these together. So far, so good. Blades are 440c, german silver bolsters and brass frame, amber stagbone handles. 4 inches closed. Fit and finish is really good. No blade wobble whatsoever and the pull is just about right. Tell you what...if you are looking for a spin on a sodbuster, don't want a typical production but can't afford a pure custom, this is a great knife. Won't get into specifics on price but its under $50. Didn't come all that sharp, but that is easily fixed. I think they have several options on handle material.

I do already. How is it possible a basic, economical sodbuster can have no blade play while some of my other, more expensive knives do?

I know it's been a while but I finally got my friend a sod buster to replace his old one with. He got it last night and was super happy with it. Here are a couple of pics. ScottK put this together for me and the green micarta is great looking.

That Green Micarta really is outstanding! Why hasn't it been seen more on Sod handles? Really suits the pattern.

My son has a Yellow CV and a Black SS, he just can't decide which he likes most so he carries both. :)
