Some people NEED to stick with $5 knives

Btw I have 0 PM's in my inbox, I thought it was going to get flooded with people taking me up on my offer of helping them put scratches on their striders and sebenzas.

Sorry, I scratch my own knives.
Other people who scratch my knives get punched.:)

As Will Smith exclaimed in Independence Day.."I have GOT to get me one of these!"

What for? I have no frigging clue..:D

SRM knives and some $10 knives are nice if thats all you have, not everyone can afford 500USD for a Strider.

Well, when it comes to anything new, they say the first scratch is always the hardest... at least it's out of the way now.

Same with me and my PM2. Fell out of my pocket onto concrete floor and scratched part of the spine. Now I use the hell out of the thing.

lol, I agree with OP, I'd prefer putting the scratch on myself, I don't want others to do the job for me :D

okay, maybe only if he's doing something worthy enough to put a scratch like saving a kid or something, no f***ing dropping it on concrete.

im sure he thinks you should stick to trimming your fingernails.

am i the only one here who realises that his fingernails should be made into all the new mantis knives? god knows they must be harder and sharper then "Mvx"

the only solution here is that strider should start making the liners of there knives out of his fingernails.

do his fingernails come in a CPM-D2 composite?

(and lastly, to apease the gods of the internet.)
do his fingernails have an HRC of over 9000?

That is the most messed up post I've seen in ages. If you keep friends who are that pathetic and disrespectful then you've asked for it and you shouldn't be whining on a public forum about it. Don't say something ridiculous such as "it was the first time I saw that side of him" please. And, if someone annoys you you should learn to speak out and let them know. There are ways to deliver the harshest of messages with absolute respect if you needed to. But to admit that you sent him off with a smile while you wanted to punch him?? That's weak and hypocritical and "loving him to death" without honest and open conversation will ruin your friendship despite what you think.

Well, it wasn't the first time I saw that side of him. I'm not that blind. I've known he was a dumb-ass and a loser for the past 11 years. But it's not that easy to just dump him; you don't know the whole situation. Yes, I agree that having "friends" like that brings you down. But you also don't know that when I was in a rut and without a job back in the day (a while ago), he would call me just to see how I was doing (and he was the only one who did that). How can you just abandon a friend like that who's been there for you, no matter how much he's changed or what he's done? My guess is maybe you've never had to make that kind of choice, so you judge.

Yes, I guess you're right about me being hypocritical here, and that I should confront him about it and it's no good to hide my true feelings, but this guy is very easily offended and gets defensive like you wouldn't believe. Why do you think he's such a dumb-ass? He doesn't take criticism well, at all. If you've got advice on how to breach the topic with him, I'm all ears/eyes.

On a side note, apologies to all for the total hijacking of the thread.... Yes, my ditty here belongs in Whine and Cheese. :-P But I posted it because it's basically the same issue as the OP: how to deal with a dumb-ass friend who doesn't respect your stuff.

I can relate I let my friend hold my ESEE-4 and as he was holding it he jammed his hand into a big ole' salty carton of fries and began checking the edge with his thumb I pretty much flipped s**t. I found out later that he had no idea what high carbon steel was and had only owned knives from Wal-mart.

You A-HOLES - can't scratch titanium huh? I just put a few scratches that went deep into the lockbar of my new lg 21 Sebenza!!

All I used was the edge of my thumbnail. Thanks for the great advice!

Luckily I thought ahead and only used about 1/2 force and pulled back as I felt it "sinking in" to the ti. Geesh

EDIT: I rubbed some spit on it with my pinky and scrubbed the marks on my soft Izod shirt bottom - scratches are gone now. This is risky business, no more experiments on my knives! I believe the OP now.

Sounds extremely complicated. Best of luck to you both and thanks for explaining.

uh..NO. That is not your problem. It isn't even the problem of the OP.

Good video man! I want that knife but I can't get over Strider not putting a liner under the G-10 side. Otherwise I'd be all over one.

Thanks! I know that if you really want a liner under there then no amount of talk will make you feel any better about it, but the G10 really is so thick that you don't notice that there isn't one there. But, I don't see why they haven't at least toyed with the idea of a nested titanium liner or something similar.

'tis for this exact reason i generally keep a Mora Clipper 860 handy.

if someone asks to borrow a knife, they get the clipper. if they ask to borrow the fallkniven S1 on my belt, they get handed the clipper.

I think it would be a safe bet to say that you will never do anything to even come close to flexing, much less breaking that knife. Seriously, they don't break cutting apples and opening mail.:D
