Happy birthday, crim!

Todd: Holy shit! You continue to impress. Hopefully getcha where you wanna go....and oughta be.

Ask daizee how many times he flipped my ZT 0560 at the Gathering. Ball bearing pivots, Elmax.....yeah, I like folders. And even though I'm not well endowed, I don't need a ZT for that....I've learned to live with it. Also, another nice thing about folders is that you can get them in some pretty hot steel for that kind of cha-ching; a fixed blade in something like even 154CM ain't cheap. Elmax for $120? Bargain. S30V (Buck Vantage Pro) for under a C-note, BOS heat treat? Serious bargain. My only problem is MA - I won't carry a folder worth more than $50 there....

Good to see you around, Springy. I figured you were in the land of the sleepless. My girls are 11 and 15 - and I'm STILL tired. In another 12 years I'll reach retirement age - though I doubt I will be able to retire - and I figure I'll catch up on some sleep then.....

I'm pretty brand loyal with about everything. If I know it's quality I'll stick with it. I know Buck has a bunch of Chinese crap and I'll steer clear of all that but I'm thinking it'll be my next Blade brand behind anything Ka-Bar since I can't get a USA Ka-Bar folder.

I know this is dragging out but I've been absent so I'll end it here...
I snagged a 1461 Impact D2 spear point today. Can't wait to check it out. It'll be my river Knife.

Buck also has some Chinese made stuff that's pretty impressive. Selkirk fixed blade - micarta slabs, 420HC - good design, comfy handle, BOS heat treat....really not bad for $85 (MSRP! - you know it's less elsewhere...). It won't kick the 16 out of it's sheath, but for a stainless option/wet carry BOB, it's a nice knife.

I'm really like the vantage pro. I did edc it for a year or so. The screws loosen up but the pm2 I replaced it with had the same problem

I'll never own a spyderco...they're so damn ugly...remind me of spy vs spy every time I see one. Never seen on made in USA either...even if they were, nope.

So my Native 5 is ugly? :(

Made in "Golden, CO, USA, Earth" as are many other designs of theirs, because it's where their OG headquarters are and where they got started.

Mine's got S35vn steel, one of the best ergos I've found in any knife, and the F&F is impeccable. All for $70 from the exchange here.

I gotta say, I think the Spydie FRN scales are hideous. Now my G10/S35VN Native-5, that's another story. Brilliant knife. Yeah, they're kinda thematic, but some of them really hit the mark design-wise, and the build quality is first-rate.

(and yes, many many flippings of GSOM's ZT!)

I agree the G10 looks better, but I guess I've grown used to the FRN because I can't see anything wrong with it. :p

I will once I get everything updated. This is what I hate about getting a new system, everything has to download. Anyways, when you get a request from ONElastMothman, that's me. Do you have a mic?

I have the little thingy it came with...haven't used it yet but I believe it's an earpiece with a mic.

Yeah...just my opinion tho...to each their own. I can't take the big dumb hole and ugly tick logo...

My takes on folders should not be taken seriously anyway, I'm just not into them as I am fixed blades. I really don't take them seriously, and never will. I may eventually spring for something decent some day, but I've never had my cheapies let me down.

A friend at work the other day showed me his new $700 titanium something or other and I didn't get it. A scale on only one side. Looked unfinished.

I have a Toyota, its nice. What's a Lexus? A luxury Toyota...I don't get it...

Sometimes I feel like these expensive flippers are status symbols. Somebody said "If I have to explain it, you'll never get it" so...yeah...I never will.

No idea why, but spyderco just really turns me off for no reason I can explain besides other than aesthetics and price. No offense to owners.

NCSlice: Spydies originally turned me off for many of the same reasons, though I'm more amenable to folders than you - if I read you correctly. Function trumps all; when I got my first - and subsequent - Spydercos I started to get it. I have a PM2, a Military, a couple of the China made (!) ones (Resilience & Persistence, IIRC), Manix2, 2 x Manix2 LW as well as an Atlantic Salt and a Manbug (?) in H1.....the ergos are pretty unbelievable, IMO, and they really have a lock on F&F. Granted, the aesthetics aren't for everyone, but using them makes the visuals make a lot more sense - and makes them prettier, IMO. To each their own, though....I'm not here to convince. Carry a PM2 or a Millie (or Manix2) for a week and most would see what I mean.....not everyone, tho. Love them all; Spydies and BM's, ZT's and CRKT's, Kershaws and HK's....Beckers and Barkies, Spartans and Gerbers (LHR kicks it, as well as my Blackie Collins Clip), TOPS and Buck, ESEE.....OK, I'm a serious knife slut - what do you want from me? Sharp. Fun. Steel. Some fold, some don't. Even my T.M. Hunt, AU Knifeworks (daizee), Bailey (not me) and J.W.Bensinger (as well as others I'm sure I've forgotten) - there's just so much awesome steel (and makers!) out there that I refuse to be slaved to ONE thing or idea about what I can and want to carry....

What GSOM said about the Spydies. The patented hole is a super-functional brilliant bit of distilled engineering, and the ergos are phenomenal.

WRT the FRN scales, they not only look bad, they feel cheap, much like the BM Griptillians before upgrades. The frame flexes, is too light, and just doesn't give me the tactile feedback I prefer in a quality tool. The G10 versions have steel liners and feel completely different. Note I don't like plastic pistols either, so YMMV.

Yeah, I didn't like Spyderco aesthetically either until I tried one. Then, well, yeah. Right now, kinda lusting after the Nirvana.

Alright, cool. Just realized you can do other stuff while the game downloads so I went ahead and sent a friend request. Haven't gotten to play it yet at all but I can't wait for Battlefront to finish downloading. Even though it's not supposed to be as good as the old ones I've been waiting on a new one since the ps2 was out haha.

Man, I completely suck at all of it except fighter squadron. I haven't played in a couple weeks but I was consistently getting on the most kills or most vehicles destroyed board. Last time I played I was above mediocre. Friggin FPS tho...whoa...can't figure it out. Unload on an enemy then I get one shoted, or I'm just minding my own beeswax and bam...dead...

Got kinda old when every round is 11 deaths, 0 kills and there's peeps with 28 kills and 0 deaths.
Prob the same guy just following me around lol.

Thanks brother :D

I had a really hard time choosing what I wanted to bring for my trip :( nothing that I'd be too too upset if it went 'missing' (well not entirely true... i'd be pissed if any knife walked away). I know nothing really happens to checked luggage other then it gets completely lost  but I know I'd go apes**t crazy if one of my nicer blades went missing. Going with my CS Spartan and a SAK Traveler :D also got a new BK13CP waiting for me down there already. I may also pick up something else while I'm down if the price is right ;)

It cant be TBL vs. shine... it has to be a 'Drunk guy with knives - guest appearance by TBL'

Hey Mike. Good to hear from you too brother. Yes, I certainly am in the land of perpetual nod but this is mostly my fault. Between a buttload of time off, a baby that begs for sweet sweet boobies at any given second and me spending wayyyyy too much time in the idiot hours playing games and watching movies on Netflix, I'm basically running on booze.. erm... no sleep. Yeah. That sounds better. I know I'm not the only one who's gone through this though :D

As for folders, I never thought I'd stoop to that level (ahem, no offense fellas) but then I got drunk (surprise surprise) and ordered me a few spydies. Got me a Pacific Salt, an Endura 4 and a Byrd Cara Cara 2 Ti. I love em. They're not going to replace my BK16 or anything but damn they are cool. My grail Spydie is the K2 Ti but the one I can afford next will be the same one you have Mike; the Manbug (in ZDP189 steel though, whatever the hell that is). Yeah the FRN isn't for everybody but to me it's fine. It does the job. Sheeeeeet Stimpy, I really only got the Endura because I thought that was what Mark Watney (Matt Damon) in The Martian was using (love that movie). Turns out it was a Victorinox Hunter. Oh well, my bad, I'm a dumbshit. Irrespective, they're flippers that I really dig. I want more. But I haven't even bought a 21 yet. Oh the humanity! Dear heavenly God Springy, you bloody heathen. Ahhhhhhhh whatever. Here's a picture of my dear little Ana flipping you all off..

Gang signs this Aiki!

Bahahaha Love it when the little ones flip ya off!

I've been looking at the Native, Manix, or PM2 in S110V...... damn ya'll are some bad influences >.< I found a store up here that carries them too. Just slightly out of the budget right now.
