Sorry for all the posts but I can't find "The knife"

There is no such thing as "the knife", you just imagine it. We are materialists who get bored.
If you really want "the knife", just get Victorinox pioneer (x) or some similar shaped GEC.

True. There is no way for any of us to know what would make the op happy!

Too much !

I mean , if they were really psychic why not pick stocks or race horses etc ?

Apparently their psychic abilities are limited to sussing out suckers(although the act of dialing should be a clear indicator. Finding “the right one” takes a lifetime and many thousands of dollars, or else lowering expectations!

I like the Ontario ranger but the sheath looks super cheap and flimsy.

everything I like in a fixed blade:s30v,5160,1095. 5-9 inches Micarta/G10 handle
Kydex or leather sheath.

For a folder: Compression lock/frame lock (I like compression locks more)
D2,s30v,high carbon. G10/Micarta

The sheath is garbage but a vendor sells a leather “tracker” style knife in 8-9oz leather for $20. Makes the total cost $95.

Wait, I figured out what you’re looking for. Hasn’t dropped yet, but it should do so soon. Have you tried frn handles? The stretch 2 in vtoku2 should be what you need , right under your price point.

Connor, if you want an EDC that is also a good Duty knife, I just bought a Spyderco paramilitary 2 that is an exclusive in brown G10 with an s35vn blade. I paid $100 for it on the exchange. If you want it, I'll sell it to you and I will put my hair shaving push cutting sharp edge on it when it gets here on Thursday before I send it to you. At that sharpness, all you need to do is strop it after you use it for normal edc stuff and it probably won't go dull on you ever.

It's a knife that checks all the boxes for most people - easy enough to carry, not to big, not too small, super comfy and ergonomic any way you hold it, fun to flick and use, looks good, great American company with a warranty to match.

I do also have a Sage 5 that is like new I think, it cost me a little more, $115, but another highly beloved knife from which you would likely get similar joy in EDC.

If you don't like either of those, then I say with all due respect - it would be foolish not to buy one of the USA Made Blade Sprint run Kershaw Knockouts in M390. $99 I think mine was before tax because we're in the same state.

Let me know.

Thats a super offer!! C Conner Michaux I hope you jump on this.

I probably wont be able to respond to all of you, but thanks everyone. I have seen some knives in these posts that a really like so I think I can figure out which one I want. Ill try to respond to as many of you as I can.

I have not looked at everything in these posts but I really like the Lt Wright Patriot and the Ontario ranger...Just wish the sheath was not nylon my PM2 is my favorite right now but I need an EDC fixed blade, I think ill be able to find one within this thread.
I don't have a lot of money to spend, I am a younger knife enthusiast so I don't have all the finds I would like.

Thanks, Conner

OP:
Have you actually been using the knives you already have? Usually it's hard to tell what "the knife" is until you have some experience with it in actual use. Using that criteria, there can be more than one of "the knives". IMO, that's far more important in determining how much a knife is liked and enjoyed than relying solely on its looks and materials.

Also, I agree with an earlier post; invest in a good, easy-to-use sharpening system and accustom yourself to using it. NO blade material holds its edge forever and will eventually need resharpening (that is, if you're actually using it). Being able to properly sharpen one's own knives is a big part of becoming a confident knife user.

If you're mostly interested in knives as collector pieces, then it really doesn't matter if a knife is a 'supersteel' or not.

I mostly use my Pm2 my Kukri and my USMC kabar.

I collect Usable knives.

I would use my Gerber edc but I majorly screwed up the bevels.

OH also I forgot to add a Railroad spike knife to the list of knives I already have.

Spyderco Native 5 or Delica are must haves. Either one could be "the knife". But "the knife" generally doesn't exist for me as the next one might be "the knife". Frankly, I don't even look for "the knife" anymore. You buy one and use it a while and if it does what you need and you like it, it could be "the knife" (but don't count on it).

Get yourself a Victorinox SAK that grabs you. They are very useful pocket knives and a must have.

I have been carrying a Steel Will Mini Cutjack in M390 and G-10. Really like this flipper. But it runs a bit over $100. The D2 versions are below $100 and most people like them a lot.

I have tried to carry a small fixed blade as an EDC and just couldn't get used to something visible like that on my belt as I wander around town. Always carry a fixed blade in the woods along with a folder.

What do you think of their Next Gen--small, versatile, great edc or a small outdoors knife. I have one--used it quite a bit, and found it really well suited for most everyday knife tasks

That one looks like a great knife but its a little to expensive for me.
