Spring 2015 Becker (East) Gathering - May 1-3 - Now With Pictures!

It just occurred to me that I havnt said I was coming....... I will be there, in a tent, in my usual spot I suppose. I think I'll be bringing my son with me.

Is there another thread with more basic info or should I just fire away with questions?
Think I'm only 6-7hrs from there...

yup - you're about 6 hours from Vonore - then it takes about 30 min to get from Sloan's to Ethan's.

The actual address is given closer to time, but for a rough estimate, as 1066vik said, if you are 6 hours from Vonore, then you are 6.5 hours from the bosses house.

Yeah, I pretty much cyphered that out from this and earlier threads. Thanks for the replies.
What I'm really looking for is:
1) I'm assuming this is a family friendly event. i see others are bringing kids but didnt really see an age group. The wife is down with it and my daughter is 12 going on 18, very respectable and mature, a lot of fun to be around, most adults say she's a pleasure to be around and I wouldn't want to come without her. Uh, or the wife too I guess :D
2) Are you able to drive to the site and unload then park remote and hike back? This would determine how I pack and what I bring.
3) my tent has an 8x8 foot print. Will there be room? Or can I clear a spot? We don't have hammocks.
4) what time Friday is it ok to arrive? I like to leave as early as possible.
5) I was thinking I'd bring some yuengling and meat? Does anybody like that? I could bring Quinua and hummus with pita chips and maybe raw granola if that's preferred. :barf:

Thanks!

family friendly is fine.
if your vehicle cannot make it up the ridge, there is a JD gator and/or a pickup around that can haul you and gear up.
there is plenty of room for an 8x8 tent -- but is that really big enough for you, spouse, and sprout?
Any time after sunrise on Friday, it's "safe" to arrive. (for a given definition of "safe")
yuengling and meat is good. quinoa & hummus with pita chips is fine if it' got enough garlic & bacon in it. :)

If you can find it at a reasonable price, I would greatly appreciate a case of Blenheim #3 (the hot stuff) ginger ale - and could send funds beforehand if needed. (SWMBO loves the stuff, but it's $2 a bottle around here)

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Count me in! Yeah, our tent sleeps 4, its surprisingly roomy. I was joking about the granola crap but it'll actually prob make the trip. The wife is 1/2 vegetarian these days. The Camry prob won't go up the ridge, I just didnt want to drag a big cooler up by hand lol.

Is that actual ale alcoholic beverage? I'll run by Sam's Blue Light over by Duke, they have tons of wild stuff like that from around the world. Local stuff too since its made in SC they may have it. If not ill track it down. Chances are its still prob a premium price. Most brews like that for for around $10/6 or 15.99 for 12. I don't mind haulin it for ya if I find it. A good friend of mine down the road makes jalapeño cider. I don't are for it but folks love it. I'll grab a jug if anys available, to pass around.

Bringing Yuenglings AND meat. I like this guy already.

nope - it's soda pop that will strip the hair out of your nose and make your toenails curl.
and at $15 a 12 pack, I'd be good for 3. (they also make a #5 not as hot that's still got a decent burn with good flavor)

Hah, yeah, that was intended to be snarky, who doesn't like yuengling and meat? But, yeah, I was thinkin a few racks of ribs dry rub and cooked the night before, then saucem up on the grill. Yuenglings a dime a dozen here, its esp great on tap and my number one pick on tap but that ain't happening. The wife's a beer snob so I'll be carrying some foo foo bitter hoppy micro stuff for her. I'm not much of a beer drinker, although I do partake, so I'll def be swiggin on whatever's goin around in a bottle, or JAR! I'll bring a case of Yuengling to share.

Not sure about sides but I can do something veggie, maybe cucumber salad or that cucumber, onion, tomato in vinegar stuff the wife makes. Mmmhm.
My daughter already volunteered some brownies.

Count me in for a few dozen home grown Rougemont eggs too.

I'll try to track down that ginger ale, never seen it but its gotta be around.

I always load up on Yuenglings when I go to Ethans. Being from Indiana. Its not distributed in our state. So, we cant buy it here.

this -- if I can find a case or 2 of Y"s B&T or Porter to haul home, I will be a happy camper.
I will try to remember to bring a Tallgrass Brewery sampler for you and your wife. (they make a really good "pub" ale, oatmeal stout, and I'm told their IPA and other froofy beers are good, too)

i will inquire as to my bosslings if i am free or not

it would be probably rapid strike, low friction high speed (said that she did)

cuz blade show... that should be more chill.

How many people are going to be there? I think I have to work that time. If not I'll see if I can't bring some farm fresh beef straight from the farm we raised on to the slaughter house onto our plates from the vacuum sealed packages and into our bellies! I could maybe bring five or six pounds of beef no growth hormones or antibiotics. I've got food allergies. Meat with no additives is about one of the only things I can eat now a days. No maters, beans, oats, tree nuts, or rice, hell that pretty much eliminates a lot of foods!

We'll get up a better count closer to May. But if you want to come and bring meat, you won't get any objections no matter the amount.
