Spring 2015 Becker (East) Gathering - May 1-3 - Now With Pictures!

Wow, just read up on Vonore, that place is rich in history. Might take a look-see on the way out.

You can hardly throw a rock around here without it landing on a historically-interesting spot. The dam scene from "The Fugitive" movie was filmed about 30 minutes away from Ethan's place... and that's how/why my Fugitive knife model got its name. There are important Civil War battlegrounds and ancient Native American encampments and preserved frontier homesteads all within a short drive... not to mention the Cherokee and Smoky Mountains National Parks, which I consider among our nation's greatest natural treasures.

Even the parts that aren't "historic" are just plain pretty, and interesting in their own right. :)

hey guys. i have been wanting to get down to this for at least a couple years now. this year, i am again a definite "maybe." is it appropriate to make a gametime decision? i.e. i will not know for-sure whether i can attend until the last week of April. if i do come down, it will be just me in a small 2-man tent, so i wouldn't need much space. thoughts?

P.S. please note that i am also not an official Beckerhead.

My thoughts, you should get your ass to Vonore!

If you can't make it to Ethan's, you could always check out the MUCH smaller gathering here in your neck of the woods...we'd be happy to meet you, even if it's just a day trip. No Beckerhead # required.

I am making plans to attend. The misses may attend as well. Separate hammocks though... she snores. :D

I'll be sure to bring a bottle of Jack, Scotch, or both. Since I am a huge fan of cow and pig, probably some meats and what not too. If anyone likes or wants to try wild hog I'll raid my deep freezer or go bag a few more before the event. One thing Florida is not short on is wild hog...

And to think that I was actually planning to score points by bringing some Philadelphia/Trenton Pork Roll.:foot::eek::rolleyes:

Very close to convincing a friend to join me on this trip. He's an American who has married a Canadian gal and is now living in Canada.

Well... he's your friend; he either trusts you or he doesn't. And if he trusts you, well, it's on :D ;)

That's obviously not for me decide. But I'm pretty sure I can guess what Ethan and his mods would think about Gus inviting a friend: ("sure, bring your friend along; a friend of yours is a friend of ours. There will be conversations and knifery and whatnot, and also food and camaraderie. Also, each person will be expected to pick-up after themselves.")

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, Vik. Shut up and drink :D
