Spring into Spring with a "Barlow a Day for Thirty Days"

For those who are looking for an Original Russell Barlow : Study up on them first and the Tang Stamp is just one of the things to check . Colonial made a well made Standard and Grandaddy set in 1998 .

Harry

Old Engineer Old Engineer ... This is the set from 1998, you mentioned. I still have the box and sleeve they came in.
For giggles, tossed in a two blade 1975 Schrade Russell Commemorative.
Schrade was said to have used original Russell tooling for the bolster and tang stamps.
I had the Schrade re-covered in sawcut Mammoth some years ago to replace the very aged and faded Delrin. Please don't shoot me 🤣

Great photo of your's my friend . I also have the 1975 Schrade repro but it is certainly not as nice as your's . I also have the Schrade with the original Delrin covers . When you put the Schrade and the Schrade Russell next to each other , you can see that for every dimple in the delrin cover on one , there is one in the same place on the other one . Both are well made sharp edged cutting devices . I might just post them tomorrow ??? As an aside , your Grandaddy shown is much thicker and heavier than a Case Grandaddy . Carry them in good health Sir !!!! Oh yes , I still have my box too .

Boy did this thread bring back memories of being a lad in rural southwest PA. Whenever we went to a local feed mill and made a fair sized order, they'd always give us boys a Barlow pocket knife. Sure wish that I'd thought to keep at least a couple after leaving home. Nowadays, a business would get sued, or worse for giving a young kid a knife, which is quite sad.

Day 5: I carried this Rough Ryder today. It’s a cool-looking knife that I don’t carry very often. Carrying today reminded my why. The action is pretty soggy. I think when I bought it I described the “walk and talk” as “stumble and mumble”😁

Day 5:

Well, it's 75⁰F in sunny south Florida, it's Stagurday, and it's day 5 of Barlow-palooza. All that together makes it a perfectly fit day for a pipe and a stag Barlow. This one, an Old Man Norman of 2022 vintage, bears the Daniels Family's Tuna Valley brand name. Because antlers are usually found in pairs, I added an Old Man Jack lamb, of 2023 vintage, also from the Daniels Family but this one is stamped Titusville Cutlery.

The stag on these is so thick, it makes some people upset. I like it. 🤷
Sweet Picture, Will.

Primble Primble Thanks for your appreciation of the German made Russell  They're extremely well made, no gaps, play, great W&T and I like the combination of carbon blades yet stainless (glaze) bolster which is practical in use. Feel and look right in themselves rather than repros.

Day 5

Nothing exciting today. It was a much needed day off and I didn't do much of anything productive. This sat on the table next to me most of the day.

I had never heard of Fayetteville Knife Company before, but I love that bolster stamp!
