Spring into Spring with a "Barlow a Day for Thirty Days"

Day 22

Boring day, Boker Barlow Copper Integral for company. Just back from taking trash to the bin, a short walk, and checking mail.

That gradient on your barlow is, just, WOW! 😮

... and your tricorder is pretty cool too! 🤣

Thanks. Some of the copper is getting colorful. :)

Wasted too much money trying to find smart phones that work well with my issues, just went back to flip phones.

I've been flirting with the idea for a couple years now.

My primary issue is that it's almost impossible for me to focus on my actual life with a super-computer in my pocket constantly competing for my attention. 😤

My previous job got all flustered when I said I was considering going back to a beeper because I was sick of them contacting me outside of work hours. Punks. They love the digital leash they've got around everyone's necks. Me? Not so much.

I've watched a number of people switch to flippers or just keep their smartphone "OFF" unless needed due to being sick of the leash effect. Also know quite a few people walking away from internet use, except for required access. I'm reducing my internet use again this year. Searches are mostly useless anymore, click bait, rage and doom posting, trolls, bots, and general toxicity abounds. It's all so tiresome. (For me, anyways.)

A second post for day 22…

I’ve posted pictures of the three Barlows from my Grandpa Abby: a Camco and two Imperials. Well, here is a picture of my Great Grandfather’s EDC from the other side of the family. He graduated to heaven 30-35 years ago, and we found these belongings while cleaning out his son’s (my Grandpa Bob’s) things a decade ago. I need to ask my brother who ended up with them, but I’ll bet a donut they’re in a box in my parents’ basement.

The Barlow looks like an imperial, and the stockman looks like it could be Camillus made?

And a bonus picture of Great-Grandpa just cause he was the finest of men.

My phone is always on silent. It will only accept calls from people who are on my contacts list and that’s not many. The only social media I do is pretty much this forum and one other. Younger folks are addicted to their phones. A few years ago I was teaching at a high school before I retired and one of my students came in who had left her cellphone at home and she lost her mind and had a panic attack. I assured her that the landline in our classroom would could be used for emergencies. Didn’t matter she immediately left school to get her phone. 🤷

Cell phones, social media, and internet can certainly be addicting. Trying to get addicted people to realize they actually don't have to grab that phone immediately when a notification comes in can be like demolishing brick wall with your head.

For me, I enjoy unplugging from time to time. When I used to travel, there might be days between breaking out the notebook to check email. Drive, sightsee, have a nice meal, have a relaxing shower, kick back and read a book or listen to tunes.

Day 22: Happy Thursday!

Well, it’ll be happy once I find some real food. This tuna snack isn’t going to get me very far down the road. I’ve been starving since the time change, which doesn’t make sense since this was Spring Forward, so I shouldn’t feel hungry earlier. Weird. The only thing left in the office that I haven’t eaten yet is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - and it’s only 1038. I need to find something substantial to sink my Barlow, and my teeth, into.

I've really enjoyed seeing your Yellow Buck Barlow as it represents the essence of a Barlow: inexpensive rugged yet pleasing knife

But that snack.....??? o_O:eek: One of the family Cats was a notorious vomiter...due to gluttony...and that bears a marked resemblance to some of his less than pleasing contributions..🤣

Nice GEC and 1956 to 1988 Imperial (Prov. R.I.) hollow bolster Jackmaster Barlows. 😇👍
Curious ... which of the two generally sees more carry time and use?
good question, since i have just recently got the gec, that has been carried way more lately. Today was nice carrying and using the imperial, those thin carbon blades cut very well.

To offset my rambling off topic, for the copper fans out there here's my Day 22 (bottom) with the other 2 copper Barlows from both sides (both will make another appearance before my month is done). Colors shift depending upon color temp, quality and angle of light. I love watching these change over time.

Day 24...
I'm a comin, I'm a comin...been trying to get home and post and finally go here.

I'm liking this Richlite an awful lot, and although shes been used it still looks newish...The patina will come with time ;) Paired today with another medium sized Schrade NY Stockman.

Will, my exact thoughts. I was going to ask how long to you have to keep eating that before you win the bet 😜
