Spring into Spring with a "Barlow a Day for Thirty Days"

The prices for ammunition are insane and I simply won't pay them. I'm interested to know how they taste when the food runs out! 🤔

I don't know how regular folks manage the cost, or how the shooting ranges plan to stay open with what I imagine are significantly reduced numbers of clientele. Maybe that's the plan? 🤔

It may very well be the plan, but, I'm fighting back against greed. 🤬
Not quite as much for me where knives are concerned, but, recreation that I like, but, don't have to have ....... just say NO to jacked up prices ! 😊
I gave up my gun range membership too and I hate that because I love to shoot my black powder flintlock rifles.

I'm very sorry to hear this. That is a travesty. The lake we have just down the road is too small for a marina. So, I just car top my canoe when I want to head out. But, if they ever stopped access to that lake I would be devastated. My dad has a sailboat in a slip at a marina and I imagine he would be just as sad as you if he had to "bring it home".

I hope that even if you had to retire your slip, you're still able to get out from time to time. I feel like I was raised on the water. And even though our local lake is nothing like back home, getting out on on the water always raises my spirits. Best of wishes to you Primble Primble and I hope the rest of your day gets better.

I'll miss it for sure, but, I was thinking last night that it might force me to make some trips to Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow Reservoir. I haven't fished them for years. 🐟😊

Did you gift it to Mark of Marksharp Barlow fame? I feel bad dropping off the map back in those days but had to take care of sick parents, working crazy long hours, etc.
Catching up on this thread by carrying 2 barlows would be great. :D:D:D

You're good to go on catching up. I'm fixin' to make the announcement. Markesharp answer is yes.
I went down that road of sick parents. It was a very trying time for me and lasted a long time. It took so much time that I dropped just about everything else. :(

Day 24...
I'm a comin, I'm a comin...been trying to get home and post and finally go here.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm trying not to like those Richlite TC's and they keep getting dangled right in front of me.
Not good for Barlowaholics ! 🤣

Day 24. Went double spey. TC representing the Barlow portion of course. This Catt is probably my favorite purchase for the year so far.

Fantastic spey blade Catt too !😍

Important Notice. ......... effective immediately .... the powers that be (me) have informed me (the powers that be) that those that are a bit behind can catch up by toting two Barlows a day and posting those two Barlows each day until they reach thirty. That will qualify you to be including in the drawing for three knives ....... to be awarded after we conclude this Barlow fest. People that are more than ten days behind came in too late for prizes, but, thanks for taking the challenge ! 😊

Another thing that I will ask that if your name is drawn from a hat, please do not attempt to pay it forward in this thread.
I have seen in other GAW's where members pick somebody which they want the knife to go to. It will be your own business (after you receive your knife) as to what you do with it.
I will post the three winners and send them a PM for their address. Please supply it when asked and kindly accept that you were one of the lucky three. 😊🍀🍀🍀

Knife Number one of three prizes .... in no particular order of draw. - A new in the box Case XX Barlow in nicely jigged Navy Blue bone. I bought one for me and after I got it, decided to buy another one as a challenge prize. Very well made with true navy blue bone, this Barlow is every bit as stout as my 1940-64 red bone Barlow. Bone tight to the bolsters, deeply laser etched bolster logo, centered blades, and stainless steel. It's my feeling that this knife would last someone that maintained it well .... a lifetime. 😊🍀

If you click emoji's of these prize pictures ...... be aware that I might come back to these to see who liked, loved, or was wowed by each knife up for grabs. In other words ...... my plan right now is to draw three names and go back and see which of the three prizes that those three lucky members liked or loved the most.
So ...... be careful what you click !!! ;)🤣

Knife Number two of three prizes .... in no particular order of draw. - A New York Knife Company (circa 1852-1931) easy open equal end jigged bone jack knife that has crack free bone, a pretty full main and a little more used pen blade that has a Dremel tool "divot ouch" on the back of the pen.
(Some previous owner used an old knives worst enemy ... high speed power tools in the hands of the inexperienced )

The main has strong snap and the pen had good snap. Still ..... after all those years ..... a fine knife ! 😊🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

A give-away isn't really necessary Mr. P.
I mean, it really isn't much of a hardship to put a Barlow in my pocket for a month.:)

Edit: Sorry! I was running off at the keyboard while you were trying to post pics of the prizes.

Knife Number three of three prizes .... in no particular order of draw. An A. Wright Sheffield Rosewood Ettrick which I spent close to a week (off and on) customizing to my liking. I have two of them in Rosewood and this one is going to a new home. I used the one I am keeping to help scrape and carve my cherry wood Opinel and it did the job very nicely. ;)🍀🍀

It isn't any trouble for me either. 😊
............... but ..... I said in post 1 on Day 1 that there would likely be prizes. Word honored and not a hardship for me to do this either. ;)😊

That stag one is cool. I haven’t seen one with that bolster before. Plus it’s got my birthday on the tang stamp 👍
To offset my rambling off topic, for the copper fans out there here's my Day 22 (bottom) with the other 2 copper Barlows from both sides (both will make another appearance before my month is done). Colors shift depending upon color temp, quality and angle of light. I love watching these change over time.

Those look great. Makes me want to carry mine tomorrow.

I meant to comment on this one. Nice to see steel pennies? with your steel HSB barlow! 👍👍👍Both 1943?
Thanks, yes both 1943.

This is good news, I can now graduate with the rest of the class. :p

Everybody likes a prize :) Even if undeserved....;) but this whole thread is a gallery of fine knives, witty remarks, and some beautiful shots- prize in itself for taking part 😻

But this new 2 day approach put the frighteners on me  Don't have double-barrelled Barlows, strictly a single-shot😁 But I've got something to run past Mr.P today that might bring down his Hammer Brand on m'head;)
