Still day 25
I just received another Barlow from my recent fishing trip in the bay. The Case Grand Daddy Barlow! It has a couple chips in the bone but the blade is intact and it has great action. I’ll carry this one the rest of the day into this evening.
I guess you could say I caught a mess of fish.![]()
how many of y'all are sick of seeing this one? I see... ... ... no hands! Cool! Me neither!)!
Day 25. Carried the HHB around town to run errands today but left it at home for work. Still counts as carrying
.
If I came across an oldie, I don't know if I could resist!
Well..... I loved your purty grandaddy Remington ............ but it cost me some money today cause I went looking for old grandaddy Remingtons. You see my hand ?![]()
If I came across an oldie, I don't know if I could resist!
The plan though, as it stands now, is to make this current one an old one... it'll only take a few decades!
Such a cool set!
I’ve got a questionable one along the same lines (though not as nice) but I decided to play it safe and stick with the sure bets. Here Schatt & Morgan Barlow is in Lilliputia with some other pygmy pals

DAY XXV
But wait there's this one trying to qualify too..... Moki lockback, it's long bolster and not slanted...

I love that keen kutter and the Randy Travis.Diggin' up bones ..... two dimes and a nickel says it's Day 25. I dug up my saw-cut bone E.C.Simmons Barlow and a very nicely jigged bone.
Last night, I dug your pretty bone out from my old dresser drawer
I set it on the table and I talked to it 'til four
I read some old Barlow letters right up 'til the break of dawn
Yeah, I've been sittin' alone, diggin' up bones
Yeah, tonight, I'm sittin' alone, diggin' up bones
I'm diggin' up bones (diggin' up bones)
I'm diggin' up bones (diggin' up bones)
Exhumin' things that's better left alone
"Hi-ho, the derry-o ! " ............ just five more days to go.

Yeah, my Shuffler gets carried more than my other Barlows. The Lionsteels are lightweight, made of modern materials, and use one of the newer super steels that hold an edge for a long time. What's not to like? I don't know if they'll become the next generation of classics, but they sure make good users.Days 22 & 23
At least some of the Barlows coming out of Italy today are being made from the best of modern materials.
Materials such as M390 blade steel, titanium frames and bolsters and synthetic covers, like micarta or carbon fiber. They're being designed and built using the latest manufacturing methods and tools. These changes from the more traditional materials and means may enable them to outlast anything that came before while functioning at near perfection.
Is it possible that Barlows like lionSTEEL could become the next generation of classics? Only time will tell.
Whether a modern become a classic or not, I for one, have already found them to be excellent knives.
