Spyderco dragonfly kept me out of the hospital today...true story! Thanks Sal!

Photoshop is awesome! Just kidding, man that is a really cool story, not the part about hooking yourself in the head. But the rest of it. I know what you mean about sharp spydercos. I just got a Para Military2 a few days ago and it came nice and sharp too.

Nice fish man. Hit me up sometime. Wherever you're fishing I can meet you, even if it's half way around the world. :)

Thanks for the props. I'm not doing anything special, I'm just lucky enough to live where the fishing is really good and to have the ability to get out there almost every day. Staring out my window while I'm typing this and remembering how lucky I am. The fishing and surfing are both excellent right out my front door. Not bragging, just expressing gratitude.

Here's another couple of pics showing the dragonfly. Man, I just love this knife. It's so light I don't even know its there until i need it...but then it's pretty damn capable! Steel is pretty soft and rolls easily, but it's sooo easy to sharpen! Ive got a manix 2 on the way, but I'm probably going to get the pacific salt too. Sigh, I'm eyeing the tasman too! ;-). Oh ya, and I might get that new h1 fixed blade and permanently mount it in the kayak! I'm sick! Lol.

The mackerel was yesterday. 11 lbs...two more today same size...Fishings been pretty slow the last week. We get sick of eatin macks. So it's nice to pick up some snapper and grouper sometimes!

Ah, and in case someone's wondering why I'm holding that snapper with a pair of pliers like a big sissy....here's a look inside the mouth of one we speared last year. :-).

Man you are awesome! Those fish are gigantic lol! What an amazing story, and an amazing knife! That's one thing I love about Spyderco. Even their smaller knives are built well. Maybe that Captain will join the club, and next time he needs a sharp knife he will be ready.

Where you at? Actually I've went kayak fishing last week with a dude I met on the forums! Worlds getting smaller!

Yeah, photoshop. ;-). Man, you're worse than my buddy. He always accuses me of hanging out at the marina and paying the charter boats to let me take pictures with their fish. Hehehe.

I am not that far by plane :) what are the knife and gun laws like down there?
A friend of mine went down there every year for a few weeks, and he did all kinds of stuff. He would always bring back a few bottles of over the counter liquid codine. He liked that stuff.

(...) About mid morning I hook into a 4-5 pound needle fish...and he's PISSED! Mid fight, he turned towards the boat and jumped and hit me right in the head! Hard! Seriously, REALLY HARD!! He was moving super fast! Cut me with his teeth! But it gets worse! The treble hook on the 6" rapala in his mouth buried itself DEEP in the side of my head! So now I've got a hook stuck in my scalp thats also connected to a 5 pound pissed off razor toothed fish thats flopping around...violently! (...)

So luckily for me, after just a few seconds, the needle fish dislodges the lure from his mouth and swims away. (...)

That fish is a Rambo! Probably a hero on it's own underwater fish community! If you mess with him - you'll get your head cut.

Lol, no sh$*!! HIS story is WAY cooler than mine...cutscene- fish sitting in underwater bar with his buddies "ok, so this idiot in a kayak sticks a hook in my mouth so I jump up and..." Hehehe.

Gun laws are pretty strict. No knife laws that I'm aware of. You can walk through town with a machete on your hip if u like.

Yes, some narcotics are sold here. Be careful my friend. I actually got clean down here. A little over 11 years now, and pretty much everything that is beautiful about my life today is a result of that. Life is good!!

Surfingringo... Congratulations on the big fish you are catching from a Kayak... the pictures you have posted are very impressive.

Nice story & gorgeous pics man! Just out of curiosity, how is that D-fly on that lanyard? just clipped on to take off at will?

Yes, but I made a tiny loop that's just big enough for the clip to go through. Keeps the knife from sliding along the cord and makes I much harder for the knife to accidentally pop off. Works great in the kayak because I can pop the knife off, or even better I can just slip it over my head and wrap the cord around my hand. Helps keep the dragonfly off the bottom of the ocean! And if you look closely at the photo with the snapper, you can see there is another small loop tied there. I haven't bought the pacific salt YET but I've already got an extra loop ready for it! ;-)

Awesome! I figured it was something like that. Not that I doubted ya, I just knew it'd be impossible to take the whole thing up over your head with a violent fish basically stapled to yer head, and I had this weird mental picture of you, the other guy, and the fish, all tryin' to get it up over yer head.

You know I never even thought of that. The first time I tried wearing on my neck i just tied it on. Glad my carry technique had "evolved" by the time I got a fish stapled to my head!! Actually I guess I could have just opened it and cut the cord. In all seriousness, I am really stoked with this carry technique and the dragonfly. I never have pockets down here, so I basically quit carrying blades 20 yrs ago. The little dragonfly and the "knife necklace" are what got me carrying again. It's the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night. Shower with it and everything. Gotta love the "salt"!
