Spyderco Fakes & Knock Offs Info

To the best of anyone's knowledge, do I need to worry about counterfeit Schempp Tuffs on eBay or the forum marketplace?

I've never seen one but I also haven't looked. Seems like with that blade grind and handle milling it would take a lot of effort to do a really good fake. A waist of effort on a discontinued knife. Always worry about ebay. This forum market place? I wouldn't worry at all if dealing with a well established member with good feedback.

It's a great knife!

They did a Hell of a Lionspy...

Is it normal that I can feel the logo on my Native 5's blade? My PM2 doesn't feel that way. You can't feel the logo at all when touching the blade. On the other hand, the logo on my Native 5 feels like a dent in the blade.

The Logos are all a little different usually having to do with what Factory made them and the expense of the knife possibly.

My Native 5 was made in Golden, CO as was the PM2. Both of mine feel the same and are very flat on the blade and smooth.

The Taiwan and Japan Logos are much different and very 3D like

Hi, everybody, I'm new here. Thanks for this forum, I learnt a lot from everyone, recently I just bought a PM2, and searched much knives website, I know something about fake PM2, so I want to show them to everyone who want to buy this type. (Sorry, My English is very limited, if you find any mistake, please tell me, I'll correct it, thanks!)
(1)True one has a very tiny patterns on the scales, fake has bigger patterns;
(2)True's back liner plate, at left coner, it's a steep turn, fake is a smooth turn;
(3)True's back clipper is polished, fake is drawbenched;
(4)True's packing box, on the small white paper, the mumber [0] is very strong, like a rectangle shape, but fake is smooth 0, like a ellipse;
(5)The blade on the top, rear place, for press thumb, there are many sawteeth, true's should be dissymmetrical triangle shapes, but fake are standard triangles;
(6)The manufacture quality is different, fake is more sticky on deployment;
(7)True's must be used some blue glue on every bolts, but fake use transparent glue;
(8)True's blade, near the axis hole, has printed propduction date, but fake has no numbers;
(9)At scales' edges, true's has very thin chamfer, about 0.8mm, but fake has wider chamfer than it, about 1.5mm maybe;
(10)From top of the knife, we can see sections of two liners, true one left side is shorter, right side is longer, but fake are the same lengths;
(11)Every hole and shapes of liners have one starting point, for lazer cut, but fake has no this symptom.

Here are some pics of my Native.
After comparisons with pics from the net, now I think that it's probably genuine.
Still, if you can see something weird, would be nice to know :)

Your N5 looks like mine. I would think the FRN handle would be difficult and very expensive to fake.

That knife is perfect. The Logo has that Gold outline that is just like mine and I have not seen that outline on the clones. The PM2 has that same Gold outline around the spider logo on the Silver blade. Black blade PM2 has a flat featureless Logo.

Look at you PM2 Logo closely, you should see that outline around the Spider

I just watched your vids. Very interesting! Thx!

They may miss some nit picky details but they do pretty good. The Southard knock off is very close and the Lionspy and Techno and Slysz Bowie look very close although I have not held one.

I know there are some types having fakes made by YangJiang, as Endula 4, Delica 4, PM, PM2, be careful! If any item is out of my threads, refuse it! Fake's price usually be 1/10 original...

I know there are some types having fakes made by YangJiang, as Endula 4, Delica 4, PM, PM2, be careful! If any item is out of my threads, refuse it! Fake's price usually be 1/10 original...

Military, Native, UKPK, (US made)
Civilian, Dragonfly, Harpy, Jot Singh Khalsa, Karambit, Police, Poliwog, Spin, (Japan made)
Domino, Hungarian, PITS, Rubicon, Southard, Techno, Tuff, Vallotton, Tenacious (Taiwan and Mainland China made) are all on this list.
They even copied some of the fixed blades, like Rock Salt and Reverse.
Just for reference, I understand this could never be the complete list.
An easy way to evade these fakes are never buy anything with "OEM" in its title, or with the picture in which the Spyderco logo is absent, intentionally covered or PSed.
The items for sale only with their Model Number but not product name are suspicious if not 100% counterfeit.
Last but not least, always check with Spyderco's MSRP. If the price shown is way out the rational range, just don't lay your fingers on it.
