Spyderco Fakes & Knock Offs Info

What do you guys think of this Warren Thomas Karambit, a guy posted this on Reddit asking if it was a fake and I'm leaning towards fake.

Well looks like I just found out my endura wave that I have carried for years now is fake. I assumed the scale color was someone who swapped it for FFG scales and added a PM2 clip. THe give away was the lock. It didnt engage fully and I could push it down . I ended up replacing the blade and back lock with a new one from spyderco. Came across the fake ones today for $17.99 shipped on ebay and I bought the knife in the used section on here sadly.

All that said I though it was real as it was sold to me as a real knife and I used it for years its been my favorite knife aside from my salt Dragonly. So...maybe ill just buy more the locking bar does need a change to be perfect but its so cheap.
The dent on the lock I think is the easiest way to tell if its fake or not. Color aside.

Has anyone noticed any fugazi brown Endura 4s lately?

Does the Endura 4 have a little 4 after the name on the handle?

It does say Endura 4 on it. On both the fakes and the real.

I have not seen any brown handled fakes.

But there are a lot of other color fakes.

Go to aliexpress and search C10 knife.

Best way is to look at the Endura videos I have on Youtube. You will know for sure then. I pointed out some things the clone guys have not figured out yet. Did you watch my Endura videos? You are looking in the right area, but it has nothing to do with the Four

I've seen a couple, but not linked from this thread yet, it's been a long week.

The thumb ramp has a non-jimped section adjacent to the lockbar as expected, but there is flashing on both sides of the backspacer that I didn't expect.

Flashing is the term for the mold seam right?

And the spider looks to have the right kind of swell to the legs too.

You should search my name on youtube.

My Endura video will show you exactly what you need to determine if your Endura is real. The stuff you are looking at is like trying to read Tea leaves.

I always try to find something that is a slam dunk for ID if I can

Thank you for making videos that helps us identifying fakes.

I have an E4 SB (SuperBlue) and recently bought a used E4 SG (Sabre Ground) from member here and a new E4 SG from Amazon (sale & ship from Amazon).

There are differences that makes me wondering if it's CQI / batch differences or one if the SG is fake.

First the good signs:
The bidirectional pattern that should go up to the flat on the handle are all there. The unlock action is easy (not deep like fakes shown on video).
The new SG box has the right bubbly pouch and the foam doesn't fit the box, which are good sign. The SB also came with same bubble pouch. The used SG didn't come with box.

Now the differences. Let's start with the tang stamp that says 'Spyderco VG-10' and 'Seki Citi Japan' is stamped but not crisp on the used SG. The new SG has smaller letter size & very crisp.
The SB stamp naturally has totally different font & size but same as all SB that I have seen on videos.

The thumb ramp jimping on old SG is irregular, some of the peak is wider, some narrower, and also not crisp. Possibly the previous owner took it off slightly. Can't tell. The SB jimping is also not very crisp but all are same width. The new SG is very crisp & regular.

The clip of used SG & SB has the same shape/size and same location of the Spyder logo. The new SG clip is slightly longer & the spyder is lower than the two. However the SB and new SG shares same powdered coating while the old SG is painted.

Lastly, I can't seem to tell the VG 10 sheen as mentioned often on forum.

Sorry, no chance yet to take photos.
Hope you can advise what else to look for, or I'm ok.

There are definitely differences in the stampings on the clips, finishes on the clips, etc.

I have not seen and don't think there will be fake SuperBlues.

There are Fake Saber Grinds. All I've seen had Emerson hooks on them.

I think yours sound fine. The patterns on the scales are the biggest tell.

You can look at the search box and see how I found them. Aliexpress is cracking down on Copyright infringement and they go after people who sell using Spyderco as a name of the sale. They are banning the sellers

Seems I belong to minority group that likes SG and don't mind the perceived wedged action in cutting. It seems people generally don't want SG and only if they need Emerson wave/hook they tolerate the SG.

Ali Express seems to move into the right direction. Do you think they'll be interested in C10 workaround these people use?

I like the Sabre and Hollow ground as well.

Aliexpress will continue to try to bust them, but they use names like Spider and Spyder and a number of different posting aliases. They also list by Metallurgy Like CTS Knife or XHP knife.
 
Well my lock bar works as expected, and my foam is nice and opaque + undersized.

I must have missed tge texturing notes, I'll have to rewatch tomorrow for that section.

Watch that part, you'll be amazed. And you can then look at those aliexpress photos and see that they don't do that right.
