Hope all is well.

Currently assembling an EDC package for my wife. Contemplating getting her a spyderco to go with it. Would like a model where I can swap out the scales later for something nice. Welcome to suggestions for what model people would think would work.

I look forward to your comments!

My wife stole my frn flat delica
Get yours a dragonfly it she is used to smaller size and it's got nice clip. Native i think is appealing to women 2

Same one you would get for you.

I never can get why dudes think a "woman's" EDC should be any different than a "man's" EDC.

I can only speak for my lady and I but her carry options are different because of mode of dress, and she wouldn't be caught dead carrying my pink knives :p

OP instead of a broad question like "what knife does a woman carry", do some recon, see what interests her the most in terms of size, blade shape, to serrate or not serrate?

Well, I am a woman and a knife nut. And I love Spyderco! I'd echo the suggestions above and recommend a Delica, Native, or Dragonfly. Personally, I think the Ladybug is too small as an only knife (better as a back up). Any of the above options can be easily tucked away in a purse. I've never given my wife a Spyderco, but she has expressed a lot of interest in my Endura and has threatened to claim it as her own. For her birthday this year I gave her a Mora 511 and a Case yellow cv Peanut. She's not a knife nut, but she has a certain appreciation for them. To her, they're tools to be used hard. And she would be pissed if I gave her a pink knife! My wife has no concept of taking care of a knife. The Case Peanut I gave her is already rusted and has some unknown gummy substance all over the blades (I've given up on her poor Peanut. It's in God's hands now.). Her Mora has taken on a nice patina, though. She brings her knives to me for sharpening, and they're always super dull! I have no clue what abuse she puts them through. [emoji5] She has a new Kershaw Cryo II, which she loves. It's perfect for her since she's so hard on knives. No rust on it...yet! By the way, I gave her a Cold Steel Ti-Lite for Christmas last year, and she loves it!

And then guys assume a woman wants a pink knife. If I gave my wife a pink knife she'd stab me with it.

LOL! No kidding. Same goes for a lot of stuff. If the wife wanted a camo jacket and I got her that pink camo abomination? Trouble would ensue.

Spyderco full flat grind Delica is probably perfect.

Dragonfly is right in there too, and if you want it a bit decorative, get the Dragonfly Tattoo model.

Show her a bunch of them on an internet knife store.
Don't tell her you're buying it for her; just ask her what she thinks of various models. :)

Find out which ones she likes; probably the best way to go about it.

My fiance likes my new Native 5 light weight most out of my Spydercos because of its size. So yes a woman's EDC would be different than a man's.

She also would love the pink Native.

Yes. For the particular woman who happens to be your wife, there is a difference. But I wouldn't assume every woman feels the same way based on one example.

(I'm curious what you consider your Native 5...not an EDC knife?)

My point is that I wouldn't assume a woman would want a different knife, or car, or frying pan, or phillips screwdriver, etc than a guy would.

Or a pink one just because she's a woman.

It's weird that guys assume that, and that may be a big mistake! Trust Velitrius and Feline Girl!

*Some* women might prefer a lightweight, smaller, or pink knife but not all! It depends on the size of the woman, her occupation, level of girliness, and interests. My EDC is no different than a man's. I'm taller than the majority of men out there and have large hands. Love my Manix 2! My wife is quite a bit shorter than I am...she's 5'8. And she is a children's therapist, so she has a professional job that entails lots of sitting and talking. Yet she loves large knives! Each woman is different. [emoji4]

So... you're saying a man wouldn't edc a Native 5 lightweight??
Bizarre...

My wife EDCs a Vis classic. My mother EDCs a Kershaw chive. My good (female) friend EDCs an ESEE 5.

All of them make fun of me for my pink knives.

Calm down friend. It is an innocent question. Curious, can you quote me in my original post where I stated I was going to purchase a "PINK" knife? In terms of getting her what I would carry, not sure she would be comfortable carry a full size fixed tanto on her!!!

Calm down yourself! :)

Why wouldn't she carry a tanto? You do! What is the difference?

Any chance we can get a moderator in here. This post is about people's preferences with Spydercos for a future purchase, nothing more.
