Spyderco for wife------what model?

If she carries a purse, why not a Tatanka? :D

Okay, that might be a tad large (or not, who knows), but my wife used to carry a Byrd Cara Cara in her purse (it's about Endura size).

For pants carry she usually goes with her blue handle Delica, or the stainless steel handle Lava.

(but a Tatanka will show you aren't pigeon-holing her by gender ;) )

As an example, my daughters and my ex like all of my knives and would happily claim them if I allowed it. They also like knives that don't interest me, none of which are sparkly or pink.

Same thing here, my friend. Most of the knives my wife has, she has taken from me. My Mora, my AG Russell Woodswalker, that Spyderco I linked early on in this thread, one of my sambar slipjoints....

Took some of my other tools too. Took my Vise Grips.

And they are not even pink!

Try a Sage 1. Fits my large hands fine and fits my sisters small hands just fine as well.

Also, the clip is pretty low profile on the Sage 1. Doesn't look like your common pocket clip. Not too tight, but just tight enough that it'll stay in your pocket no problem. Easy to use, S30V steel, carbon fiber handle scales with kind of a "basket woven" texture to it, and it's an overall good looking knife. I usually carry it if I want a lightweight, smaller sized EDC, or if I ever need to look presentable. Easily one of my personal all time favorites

Kniferbro, no apologies needed here! I took zero offense to your post. I think we can all agree that more women should get into knives! I think it's awesome that the OP is planning on giving his wife a knife. Whether they're pink, sparkly, covered in unicorns, or black and tactical, it matters not. Sometimes I feel rather alone in my knife hobby because I don't know any other women who really dig knives. I hope that more of you guys can get your ladies into knives!

Alex

It so happens the only person I know who is into knives is a woman, the teenaged daughter of friends. Years ago I gave her a SAK as a birthday present, and that launched her interest (her brother, whom I had also gifted with one, not so much.) There used to be two guys among my acquaintances I could talk knives with, but one died and the other moved away. Nobody else I know has any interest in the subject, including those who use them in their work or recreation. The only place I can find a community with whom to discuss these things is on the interwebs, where we are all a bunch of keystrokes anyway, and gender doesn't (or shouldn't) really enter into it. Or even species :D .

My wife loves her Delica G10 and Cold Steel Recon 1 LG tanto. She carries both in her purse. When camping, she has a Spyderco Manix 2 LW 110 in her pocket.

Calm down friend. It is an innocent question. Curious, can you quote me in my original post where I stated I was going to purchase a "PINK" knife? In terms of getting her what I would carry, not sure she would be comfortable carry a full size fixed tanto on her!!!

I think it's because threads similar to this have appeared many times before and every single time every other reply has been "A pink [this or that]". I opened this thread thinking "let's see how many recommendations for pink knives we get this time". So that's probably where it's coming from. A pre-emptive response, if you will ;)

Another vote for a Delica 4 FFG. Quite a few colors to choose from and you can always go the custom g10 scales later if you want. I tried to get my wife to carry one but she prefers a SAK Classic in pink camo :D.

Not being able to find my manix 2 lw, this weekend my wife has been using a Case mini wharncliffe trapper. Most of my knives are users and in a pile and that's the one that she went for.

If the manix is around she will choose that one as it reminded her of a mini grip. I just got a mini grip back in but in rotation but she still prefers the manix lw.

This thread has me worried. My wife likes pink knives, is she broken? She mostly carries a pink Benchmade mini-grip, FWIW. Pink really isn't her color, but she says the pink handle helps keep the other PTO moms from freaking out if she uses it to open a box.

The first Spyderco I suggested for my wife was a Dragonfly, incidentally. She ended up preferring the axis lock to other locks so she carries Benchmade instead.

Maybe consider the Salt1...
Not only will it never rust, its high viz color may help spot it deep in a purse or a cluttered center console in a car.
Carries well too....its a good size, super lightweight.

My wife has a serrated Delica for fieldwork and a waved Delica for casual carry, mostly due to the convenience of having a bottle-opener also available. The main problem is finding any knife with a pocket clip mounted at a height that accommodates the dopey shallow pockets on women's jeans.

I have bought many knives for my wife over the years and she prefers the Spyderco Dragonfly the best.
