Spyderco HAP40 Thread

For those who haven't been able to see the HAP40 FRN in person I thought I would post this photo as I think it's a fairly accurate colour representation of what you'll see when you open the box. I believe someone in a previous post referred to the colour as butterscotch - I'm going with caramel, but as always your tastebuds may vary.

Anyone know where I can find one in stock? Pm me please

I don't see any.
If you want the endura or delica, get on a mailing list at supplying retailers to notify when they come in stock.
For stretch, dragonfly, manbug, or ladybug you'll need to preorder.

Can't wait to receive some Caramel Dragonfly's and Manbug's :D

fyi I cleaned my Delica a couple times with a scrubby and soap and the bug has faded badly. I don't care but some may want to avoid this. Still cutting like a champ at 3 weeks.

Just gonna add really quick; both my Delica and Endura had spot-on 30deg inclusive bevel grinds.
Touched them up on the Sharpmaker and no reprofiling needed.
They cleaned up very nicely, without removing much material.

My HAP40 Endura is the smoothest opening and tightest locking of any Seki knife I've owned or handled. Beautiful grinds and incredibly sharp.

I borrowed one of my sister's HAP40 Enduras to photograph and really didn't want to give it back, so I traded her a super blue Stretch NIB for it. I've accepted that I missed the super blue party and I don't want to pay collector prices, so I'm going to focus on the HAP40. I'm in on the ground floor lol. This one is a perfect specimen.

I prefer everything about hap40 so far. Sharpens up just as easily and gets stupid sharp just like SB, but edge retention seems significantly better so far. I think you made a good trade. :)

My hap40 delica is showing very good edge retention. I have started sharpening it as I do my other folders using a Coarse DMT plate then a strop to lightly polish the edge. I'm rather rough on knives so this edge has proven to last longer and is easier to bring back with a strop. It's toughness is also impressive, I have not intentionally pushed the limits of the steel but contact of hard objects like nails, staples, and ceramic tile have caused at worst minor blunting. Even a 4ft drop to concrete only slightly dented in the tip... which is good because I almost cried when I dropped it.

Now for some pictures of a well used delica,

I'm also happy to report this steel is taking less damage than other popular steels when contacting metals/steels and other destructive materials.
I also agree about ease of sharpening and the edge it takes.
