Spyderco HAP40 Thread

Wow, never got the email from BladeHQ on the Stretch. Oh well.

Appears to be sold out everywhere already.

Love the hap40 Endura, but it is a little large to carry...

Think I just got the last one. Much appreciated tip and thank you! I got a receipt and all so I think I'm good to go... If so, excited to try my first Stretch!

I'd like to see the surge in computer use, when one of these models hits a site!
Maybe a number of how many the site has, compared to how fast they sell out..
 
I don't know if I want the Stretch, but the Dragonfly? Very much want. We'll see what the price comes to up here and if I want it as badly as I wanted my Delica.

My only HAP40 so far is the Delica. Still my newest folder, but I've been using it and I've really fallen in love with the design in general. The Delica is a wicked cutter. It's lightweight but doesn't feel cheap. The ergonomics offer excellent control of the edge and point. It rides really well in pocket and while I've always preferred larger folders, the Delica by contrast to others in its size feels very capable and dependable to me.

I'm with ya there! I can't wait to add a Hap40 DF2 to my FRN and G10 model's..

I also wasn't sure about the Stretch, but after reading everyone's praises, I'm adding one to the collection... Hurry up mail man! Lol..

The steel is Great! So if I'm going to give one a go, the Hap40 model is the one I'm going with.

Not/wasn't a Huge fan of the Delica, over my other models (just simple doesn't melt into my hand) but that is changing with the more use I give it!

Which lead me to do a little playing today..

Had to change the lock bar right along with it. Which sticks out of the back of the knife, ever so slightly.. But I think I can live with..
Lock up is solid and no blade play.
 
Woah, that is a sweet mod! If I didn't like the burnt orange scales so much, I'd consider having something similar done.
 
The burnt scales was a big hesitation, actually.. (But I still have them)

I'm a addict... So maybe I'll have to trade my Stretch for another Delica..
Maybe a ZDP blade on the burnt scales.. Lol.. (Maybe sell the offspring)

I'll probably end up doing the same thing to my Foliage Endura(only need one Endura and sell the offspring) and G10 Dragonfly, as well..(which means I'll have to buy 2 Hap40 DF's.) Lol...

Where's that number to the knut hotline!? ;)

yeah, I was signed up for the email but never received an email. addict that I am, I was just cruising knife retailer sites after dinner and happened to see it right there and immediately purchased. not sure what was up with the lack of an email heads-up, and makes me not very confident about the email alert we're supposed to receive for the M4 PM2

I've put that sprint off my radar now, but I wouldn't feel too confident about the email. At that time late Monday evening, I wasn't in a position anyway where I could even get on my phone and order, but definitely was yesterday morning when they dropped on KW but had no idea they were for sale because I don't think KW does email alert. Luckily I checked the forum at just the right time yesterday when a nice member informed me of a site I wasn't even aware of and got my order in just in time.

After BHQ let me down, I went and signed up for emails on some other sites so I'll see if they're more reliable coming in. Surprised though that the Stretch isn't even shown on some sites that are selling the HAP40 Endura and Delica like GPK and Cutlery Shoppe.
 
I now have the HAP40 Delica and Endura. Have not owned either one in years. This new steel has really made me reconnect with these two iconic Spydercos. For me the biggest surprise, after the awesomeness of the steel, is how much I like the Delica. I see now why they remain so popular even after all the new and exciting offerings from Spyderco.

9 dps but with a very tiny 40 degree mb. Cuts like a laser and have had no issues with edge stability but I haven't really used it on anything but paper, cardboard and rope.

What did you use to get your 9 dps? Curious if you use the sharpmaker with one of the "techniques". Thx
