Spyderco HAP40 Thread



Wow, what a great color.

Looks much better in person

Quite delicious looking, might be edible haha.

It's a very soothing, mellow, pumpkin orange vs the in your face eye melting, solar flare, safety orange on the vg10 version.

I've never had a knife come from a factory with the ability to cut a free standing hair in half. I'm in disbelief, amazing.

Glad I finally got my first Sprint after missing the last one.

Goodbye Superblue, Hello HAP40! :)
 
Yeah I prefer it over safety-orange too. It seems to me like this steel is a happy median between ZDP-189 and Superblue.

At first glance, the bevel is not as wide as a stock vg10 Delica.

But the hap40 is a little thinner at the spine then the vg10 as well.
 
After reading through this thread at the beginning of the week, a frenzy came over me and I scoured the net looking and managed to find (last)one in stock! I just got it today, and I am really impressed!! Thank you Spyderco!! The caramel pumpkin coloring and the extremely sharp blade are fantastic. More subdued delica/scale colors please.

Anybody know if anyone has Hap40 Delica in stock and if Spyderco will be shipping any more? or where I can find one lol

A few more might trickle in but right now it seems the Hap 40 Delica run is either done or very close to being done. Where to buy one? Don't have a clue. And if i did I'd be buying:D;)

They will probably pop up on the exchange now and then.
 
I just got a HAP40 Delica and I'm super impressed with it.
Amazing sharpness out of box and angles and grind are very good.

My only other Delica had been a Super Blue that got misplaced when I moved a few months back so I'm hoping this one is a worthy successor.
I really can't wait to see how this steel compares to others.
I got the Endura a couple weeks back but that is a bit big for my edc right now but the Delica works well.

Hope to try out the newer ones also especially the Dragonfly.

I find it very hard to believe that this run is almost done. Seems like it's just started.

Well the Delicas started showing up around December 1st till this past week, that's almost 2 months..or were you just not paying attention? A bigger indicator that the Delicas are done is that the Hap40 Stretch is supposed to be in stock this week at retailers. I've never seen two different Japan made sprints models made at the same time. They make the full allotment of one model then move on the next model etc. They started with the Endura-October and November, then moved to the Delica-December and January, and now the Stretch is up, probably February and March.

Received my Endura a couple of weeks ago so here's a shot of the pair. Still super impressed with this steel and looking to get a kitchen knife or two in HAP40 now.

Hmm. I saw that they first came out at the beginning of December, just didn't seem like there were that many released. Maybe they just went that quickly.

I agree that it seems like they weren't available for long. I think it might be because even though they started trickling out nearly two months ago, they sold so quickly that it seems they were only actually available for a handful of days. I frantically bought one as soon as I saw one. I had the feeling I was being a bit too worried but maybe not. Glad I scooped one up when I had the chance.
 
Benton Box has some Delica's..
Or atleast it says "in stock"..
Might only be one..
Might be lots!
Sit down before you look at the price..
