Spyderco Manix 2 vs. Zero Tolerance 0350 ? Your thoughts please...

Considering there is a Manix 2 lightweight with S110V coming out that costs less than the ZT 0350, I'd say get that.

I have several Manix's and had a ZT 0350.

Both are great, but I vastly prefer the Spyderco for the following reasons:

-More comfortable. The ZT grip feels short for my medium-sized hands and it sort of cramps my fingers together.

-I love the choil on the Spyderco, as well as the blade shape. Though the recurve on the ZT is nice.

-The Manix also weights a little less and has an ambi lock and jimping up the wazoo.

Get the Manix. Specifically the new FFG ones :)
Oh, but if you do decide on the ZT, be sure you DE-assist it. Makes a great manual flipper. Very smooth and easy action.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards the Manx 2.

Flippers are not always assisted. Manual flippers are pretty cool, but I personally hate most assisted blades. The novelty wears off really quick.

Yes. Now that I think about it, I'm getting tired of deploying my Kershaw Leek. It is interesting that I just started to feel this way today...

I'm not sure what carrying a firearm would have to do with which knife you carry, but both Spyderco and Zero Tolerance are quality knife manufacturers. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

I agree with LastRodeo that the 0350 would mate well with my Glock 17. (What did I just type !?) LOL.

I honestly think both knives have their place, and roles in anyone's collection. I have (and love) both.

Thank you, sir.

Update, Knifecenter.com posted on the forums today saying their first shipment would be in beginning of next week with a larger shipment at the end of the week. Makes it sound like the 16th is a solid date. I'm looking forward to this one, as I haven't had a chance to use S110V.

Thank you for the info. I just pre-ordered mine. So excited! I've always wanted to try out a S110V blade.

Back to topic.

Manix all the way. I like my 350, but it's too wide and bulky for my liking. I also don't like assisted opening. If you don't have a good way of sharpening recurves then you'll be scratching your head. Manix can take some beating. I feel that the lock is much more secure than any liner lock. Ergos are much much better. It weights less too.

It's tough for me because I actually do like the 0350 but between the two I'd have to go with the Manix. I prefer its blade profile to the recurve of the 0350's... A tie between the locks and strength, they are both sufficient...Ergos, 0350 is totally fine in that regard but the Manix has the edge here also. As a matter of personal preference, I prefer manual opening knives so I do not care much for the 0350's assisted opening. Both are tough, and USA made...Another win for the Manix is price.

Another vote for the Manix 2, although I doubt you would be disappointed with either.

I down own either but my coworker owns both.

I would pick manix because it has better slicing performance, 350 seems more robust, but doesn't have a great cutting performance compared to manix.

I vote manix 2, xl if possible. The torsion bar in the speedsafes always worry me. They can break without warning then you're sol. The manix 2 is rock solid and can be made even better with a zip tie wave.

Get both. While the ZT "seems" more robust because it is thicker and heavier than the Manix, they are actually both very tough knives.
I use the ZT out in the field and pry with it, chop with it, even batoned with it a few times for kindling. Tough as nails.
I use the Manix at work. Great slicer for lunch and works wonders on strapping and cutting up cardboard all day. Tough as nails too.

Love the assisted opening of the ZT and I have some that I pimped and took the torsion spring out and use as flippers. Still work flawlessly. So, if the spring ever breaks, it's still a usable blade, unlike many others. All of them still lock up tight with no blade play.
Love the smoothness of the Manix. Like oiled glass when opening or closing. Mine will fall closed when help upright and the lock is deactivated, yet locks up tight and solid when opened with zero blade play.
Both are winners and as you can see, these two get used by me constantly.
