Spyderco Military CF 52100

I definitely understand that everyone has their own taste, and can appreciate that. But personally, I am not a fan of the CF "skin" over G-10 that Spyderco uses. Of course, I have become a CF junkie and like the real thing better. Just curious, why do you like the CF/ G-10 better?

The peel ply is the real deal. Its the composite on taiwan models that is the thin layer on top

That might be a little more than I want to spend on 52100. I like peel ply carbon fiber but I'd be just as happy with G10. It's a great knife for the collectors though.

Are you saying in your mind 52100 is a lower grade steel that you'd expect to pay less for? That would be contrary to what I have read (expensive to source and work with), and my experience with 52100 is quite positive.
I've got one high on the list as a must-have user!

Can of worms there. ;)

I'll go for the S110V blurple G10 Manix2 and Military models instead.

Can't afford them all.

I just wish they'd release a Military 2, or just give the option for tip up carry (but I think at least a partial redesign would be needed, right?).
The Military is an amazingly capable knife, but I rarely carry mine do to it's tip down only orientation.

Would add weight for that clip orientation with the need for a full length liner. I'd be slightly opposed to that personally. Love how lightweight the Military is for its size.

Nope, add threaded inserts[emoji6] Spyderco isn't new to that either. See Caly Jr.

Hmm, I see the weight is 4.2oz which is the same as a standard G10 military. Wouldn't CF be noticeably lighter than G10 on the scale?

I'd imagine the density is about the same between the two. Neither the G10 nor CF is really structural in this application...

Yep, here's a natural patina on my Mule. Has a bit of rust spots from my neglect, though...
Could probably make a cooler looking patina if you force it when new.

Probably a typo. My CF Militarys are lighter than the G10 version.

I cannot feel the difference by hand. A new CF military (like the M390 CF, with dual liners) is still heavier than a normal G10 PM2.

In my view peel-ply CF is equivalent in function to G10, the only differences are looks and price.
