Spyderco Mule Team - 2nd run

Yep, both are going to be expensive to buy and process too. I'd guess triple the final cost of the 52100 mules? Then there's the PItA factor. We'll see. Joe
Yes I just think it would be easier for Spyderco to get CPm-M4 and I think M4 would be better in every category. YXR7 looks good on that Hitachi chart, but that's compared to a bunch of high carbide stainless steels. If you look down you'll see that GIN 5 (similar to 13C26) matches it for toughness, though it gets a poor hardness rating.

How about L6? It's not as fancy as a lt of the other steels being mentioned, but it's tough as nails, has excellent edge retention, and a small crystal size,

I'd vote for a common production steel, so we have a basis for comparison. VG-10, S30V, H-1, D2. No sense in playing with the super steels at extra cost and processing difficulty if they don't outperform stuff that's easier to work with.

someone please check, but I looked at the choices so far, and assigned 3 points to the top choice, 2 for the second, and 1 for the third.

So far, top choices-
M4 14 points
3V 10 points
M2 9 points
13C26/D2 tied with 8 points
Super Blue 7 points

Since I just got a 3V blade, if I switch my #2 to super blue, it drops 3V to 8 points, and super blue goes to 9... But so far, one call to Crucible would set us up for 3 more mules!

Super Blue ,but Sal said it is hard to source and HT the exotic jap steels only I want it bad.
