Got this mail call yesterday "Military C36GPGR 204P"and upon inspection today noticed the poor quality control in rushing to get this sprint run out,is this acceptable in a $200 knife? Knifeworks exclusive, the torx15 pivot screws are stripped and deformed, blade centering is off center

Yes, pictures please.

For a single instance of a problem to be a "drop", they would previously have had to be perfect. Nobody is perfect.

Possibly a knife that was returned?...

To condemn one of the companies in the industry with the highest QC because of what might...or might not be one bad egg seems a bit harsh.

Could you be jumping the gun....or the knife as the case may be....

Well the grind on my Damascus Delica a few months ago was off by a good bit. The grain on one side started right above the bevel, the other side didn't start till a good 1/3 of the way up the blade. While I won't say it's indicative of a drop in quality I would say it's the difference between what you get from Spyderco vs say Randall or other semi/custom manufacturers.

Since it's the "Damascus" blade, I would have exchanged it for a better example. Heck, I'd exchange any blade with an off enough grind actually.

OP, Knifeworks like any good dealer will exchange it free of charge.

Badly croocked guards and and handles are not unknown on Randall Model 18s... Croocked guards can be found on other Randall models. Blade finish/symmetry is rather hit and miss too...

My only issue with Spydercos is that their lockbacks are only about 30-50% vertical wobble free... That is more or less true of all lockbacks, so not a Spyderco issue.

So...you find the fit and finish of Randalls lacking, and your one complaint about Spydercos is not about Spydercos specifically, correct?

How does this all tie in to the OP's perceived drop in Spyderco's quality, if you don't mind me asking? The stripped screws? Off center blade?

By the way, still no pics or return to the site from the OP. Getting closer to calling "shenanigans"!

I have purchased 3 Spydie sprints and found the builds on them to be a bit better than production models.
I'm thinking tomfoolery at the moment.

I wouldnt exactly call that "flawless". From the pics anyway, the final grind looks quite uneven with a much more acute angle towards the tip and approximately a 1 cm plunge towards the ricasso.

the bevel is even, its just the perspective angle. the blade is also not longer than the handle.
