Spyderco quality control drop?

I wouldnt exactly call that "flawless". From the pics anyway, the final grind looks quite uneven with a much more acute angle towards the tip and approximately a 1 cm plunge towards the ricasso.

What you observed is true, but it is quite common among production knives (spyderco, benchmade, zt, ...)

Doubting the guy before he posts pics is a little silly guys. Not everyone wants to spend the time to join an image hosting site and post pics.

I would just send it back for a replacement OP:thumbup:

He can send it back to the seller for replacement or to Spyderco for repair. It's not a question of him being stuck with a less than perfect production knife.

No need to doubt the OP, but we still want to see pics.

He spent the time to join here. Then spent the time to make an as-of-yet unsubstantiated drive by post.

Having a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to claims made on the internet is not silly at all. It is sensible.

Since it's the "Damascus" blade, I would have exchanged it for a better example. Heck, I'd exchange any blade with an off enough grind actually.

OP, Knifeworks like any good dealer will exchange it free of charge.

Never thought of that, thought it was just luck of the draw. I'll keep it in mind next time though. Thanks

Joining this site takes a fraction of the time that trying to get a good pic, transferring it to your computer, opening a posting site account, uploading photos, and posting them here does. I dont often post pictures on internet forums either. Not everyone wastes their whole lives on the internet:rolleyes:

Why would someone open an account on here and take the time to post a detailed criticism/issue about a product on here for no reason. Your just being silly imo. I could see if he was outright slandering or bashing maybe but, come on.

Seen it many times over the years I've been here.
You could call it "Drive-by Haterz."

They pop up, say one or two negative things, offer zero proof, and disappear.

Why would they do it?
It pleases them...just look at the argument they got going with one little post; they can sit back, and view the fun without even having to log in.

Got this mail call yesterday "Military C36GPGR 204P"and upon inspection today noticed the poor quality control in rushing to get this sprint run out,is this acceptable in a $200 knife? Knifeworks exclusive, the torx15 pivot screws are stripped and deformed, blade centering is off center

Contact KnifeWorks for a replacement of the defective one.

Happens quite often. You have been here long enough to know that. Drive bys.

And again, signing up for a photo hosting site takes no longer than signing up here once, let alone as long as the time needed to sign up here twice.

Like I said, photos would be a game changer. So would coming back to comment.

I can see now that he only has one post so, I suppose it could be a "drive by" as you call it. I have seen people calling out members with many posts for not posting pics however. Even I was called out once. It is a bit of a pain in the butt to post pics, especially on this site without tapatalk hosting support, so I can see why some people, including myself, dont bother many times. Lets see if he posts back, it has only been a half a day after all. Its a little bit early to jump on him imo.

 Very good. And what did he do immediately after he made that post?

I am not sure. Logged out you mean? If so, like I said, not everyone spends their whole lives on internet forums. Posting, logging out, and checking back later is pretty normal really.

OP, Even good quality control is not perfect. QC may be a little wobbly or maybe you got the 1out of xxx that slipped through. If you have an issue I'd get in touch w spyderco and see what can be done. One item doesn't really speak on the QC of a company. But if many others have similar issues then I'd start thinking QC.

A drive by!? Sounds pretty violent![emoji33]

I have my doubts about a spyderco coming with stripped torx screws .

Now we may get pics of a knife with stripped screws but again I have my doubts it left spyderco this way.

The stripped screws are the only thing I don't doubt. Spyderco has a horrible record of having soft torx screws that strip easily. It's the only knife manufacturer that I refuse to modify or disassemble because I have never once been able to disassemble and reassemble it without stripping a screw- on both processes. It's very frustrating, and the only thing I really dislike about Spyderco. That, and when I send it in to be reassembled they take off over 1/8" of blade stock sharpening it.

Either way, I still have a Delica in my pocket right now and a Manix 2 I bought from the factory in my nightstand.

Maybe some employee took apart the spyderco? and wouldn’t this be a warranty issue if the quality is bad?
