Spyderco Resilience

No, the "Made in China" label is a deal breaker for me. Roll your eyes all you want, but practically everyone shops at Wal-Mart, where practically everything is made in China. Keep it up and the only jobs left in America will be Wal-Mart and McDonald's.

Bingo!!!

The made in china thing doesn't bother me much. I'm down for this. It looks like it would be a great hunting knife.

Congratulations to Spyderco for making a big folder. I think I'll be getting one.
China already makes the best swords in the world and I think Chinese workers are fully capable of making good knives. Of course I'm still waiting for the Szabo folder[ and I couldn't care less where it's going to be made] which I understand will also have a blade over 4" long.
The problem with Wal-Mart is not that it sells Chinese goods; the problem with Wal-Mart is that it's non-union and exploits it's employees.

I don't think "made in China" is the same as "death to the American economy" but I am willing to pay the extra money to get a USA made product with better materials and so I'm told slightly better workmanship. I don't have a problem with Spyderco having knives made in China. They are a tremendous value and we on this forum are not like most people. Most people balk at the thought of paying over $50 for a knife. These knives let them purchase a quality product that is in their price range.

I'll stick with my Military, but like having the option of a cheap Military-like knife out there too.

Is this thread one of those "China vs. American made" ones? I hope not as we already have enough of those and this topic has been discussed over and over again.
Back to the knife: I'm quite interested what the price will be here in Europe, maybe something in the sixties. I think I'll join smasak and stick with my Milis at first...I need the money for other knives anyway. But a comparison between the Military and the Resilience would be quite interesting...so we'll see.

Made in China? I don't think so..... :thumbdn:

Although made in China obviously profits are going to make it's way to Spyderco in America which can/will help further production of USA made Spydies.

At least I can dream of this cycle...

Outside of Politics, too big, but talk about BANG for your buck!

For a knife of that quality I could not care less if it were made in Sierra Leone, I am getting it!

Who wants me to wave and double edge theirs?

Yeah i guess its cool, but why not spend a little more money and get a military? its much better steel and made in golden!

Who wants me to wave and double edge theirs?

'spossible... but no double edge though. I can cut myself just fi - er, 'scuse me, cut things that need cuttin' - just fine with one edge. :p But having one of these waved might be interesting. It certainly has enough material in front of the hole for a good notch to fit in. I likes my holes 'whole', knowhatimean? ;)

Hmmmmm...

I have yet to buy a Chinese made knife, but this may be my first.

I like large knives, and this design does a lot of things right. Hopefully we'll see a USA version someday.

All I know is, that they sure are a piece of cake to sharpen, and man do they get scary sharp. Not high tech steel but, works for me.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I've read complaints of the steel but I agree with previous posters here - the steel performs well. My Persistence almost makes me sad because I don't think it's any worse than my higher priced folders.
