Spyderco Resilience

Can't let my tenacious and persistence get lonely...

Seriously though, I think this is a really cool series of knives that, in all honesty, I prefer to my delica or endura. Can't wait to see what this series evolves into.

Mine's on the way. It looks well made, but we'll see. If you think the weight is an issue, try packing a Rajah 1 or a ZT 0301, XM-24 or fixed blades. I've gotten used to packing some heavy knives so 5.6 is no biggy. YMMV :)

Got my Spyderco Resilience today from KW. What a tank! Huge! If you want to change the clip use one of those L shaped wrenches (allen/hex??) I never took shop class, the torx don't fit unless it's "ancient chinese secret" bit.

I'm deciding if I like it or not. I love the size, price point, nice build, sharp out of the box, blade is centered, flow though design, but the handle doesn't have the sweet ergos like a Military in the hand. It feels too tall, top to bottom and I have some pretty big mitts.

Hmmm....to keep or to sell away?

cziv, I say you should keep. A knife that size with decent quality at that price sounds like a perfect one to keep stashed some place and forget about it until you might need it.

I hope the washers are thicker than the ones in my Tenacious.I like the steel.It holds an edge good and is easy to sharpen and I prefer it to other companies AUS 8.I just do not like how paper thin the bronze washers are.Mine actually were flaking when I first bought it.Some people complain about the way the blade is ground.Mine was OK(GREAT for a work knife) but I have seen some uneven examples out there.If the washers are thicker than the Teancious it will score a 10 for the price IMHO.I HATE to admit it but my Tenacious locks up better than both my Enduras and Dragonfly or my Buck CSAR-T.My Native has zero blade so it equals the Tenacious there.Im 90% sure I will eventually get a Resilence after the Chinook 3 and Manix 2.

Just received my Resilience and it is built like a tank! Deployment is like lightening and effortless. The detent is strong enough and holds the blade well. It is a bit large for EDC but I love it. Now we need one that similar but a quarter in shorter blade and an ounce lighter in weight, in between the Resilience and the Tenacious.

Try hex. My Persistence and Tenacious have 1.5 and 2mm hex. My Resilience has 2mm pivot and 1.5 body bolts, but the clip takes a 1/16th hex. Maybe they are trying to tell us the only thing we should remove is the clip.

That is unless you have a screw bit set that has everything.

LOL..thanks Sithus, upon reading my post again, I see that I didn't mention that I actually did get the clip switched with a "hex" wrench. What's an allen wrench? Is it the same? :confused:

How do you like your Resilience? The blade's so heavy it flys open with a thumb flick. On mine anyway. :)

Folder weight was never a big deal to me. I like my Ka-Bar Mule as much as my Endura FFG, or others. I'm just happy to see Spyderco getting into larger blades. Bring them on, please !

Hex = Allen, same thing.

I love it. Been carrying it since it arrived. My Tenacious spent 5 months in my pocket, I think this will probably be the same. It does fly out, never touched the pivot screw.

Thanks for the Hex = Allen intel. Mine's going to a forum bro. When I opened the box and saw how fast it was, I gave it medium wrist action and snap! Gravity took over :D

Recieved my Resilience today and have to say I'm impressed. Blade was shaving sharp and perfectly centered, lock up is perfect with no play in any direction and the weight is fine for a big blade like this. I got this to try waving it and accomplished it functionally in about five minutes with Mr. Dremel by cutting out a quarter inch section of the hole with a cutoff wheel. It waved fine at that point but I put a coarse sanding wheel on and lowered the top line to make the back half of the circle stand about 1/8 inch proud. I've already decided to get another one or two as back ups and/or gifts. The cost/value ratio is phenomenal on these knives. Indeed, this is the poor man's military!
