Spyderco Vallotton disapointment

If I were you I would be totally upset. For $400 I wouldn't ever expect anything like this. You better contract BHQ and get your money back.

I have to tell you all that I was not looking for a refund or compensation here at all, but Blade HQ just contacted me about this thread and said "First things first: We'll take care of you- no worries on that end."
Im beside myself....and speechless!:thumbup: Ill keep you guys informed!
Sweet! Stand up company.....

Sorry to hear about the Vallotin. Blade hq are tip top as far as customer service. I've had a sub hilt conversion since they first were available. Serial #41. I took it apart when I first got it and was impressed with the workmanship involved. I think you were unlucky enough to get one that some schmuck tried to convert on their own n pass off as the real thing. Just looking at the pics, they look nothing like the "guts" of mine. Mine was immaculate, which is typical of a Vallotin conversion and I also have a.sere 2000 conversion as well. I hope you get a new one in perfect order. It's an impressive knife on its own and the converted ones just make a great knife into one of my favorites and is in my pocket a few.Times a week. Good luck

Sorry to see this happen to you Brandoak... But happy to see you're being taken care of.

BladeHQ rocks!

Thanks for all the support guys! Haven't heard back from BladeHQ yet, but I was told that my info was being passed to the people that it needs to get to.

Thanks for the follow up JFK1110, the plot thickens...wow very interesting. cant wait to here back from BHQ, I'm sure they have records of this stuff. Would love to know where this "C17" came from. Hey, maybe its one of Vallotton's very first conversions and its priceless!:p

Get rid of that one a Bran!! If it lasts a month of use I would be amazed!
Horrible work that was done by a hack!
Excellent CS from Blade HQ!!
Let us know the outcome.
Joe

Been doing some poking around on the web and found a site that sells this conversion...This only raises more questions for me...
the instructions and description state:

JUST BUILD IT!!!
Spyderco Butch Vallotton Sub-Hilt G-10 Dual Action Switchblade Knife KIT
"Simple Install with just one screw on the back side in the center of the handle right below the pocket clip. Loose the pivot screw because most times I tighten them. Slip the spring in, line the groove at the bottom with teh pin, move the liner lock aside, then close the knife and then screw the down flush. Nothing needs to be taken apart. Fast and simple to make into an auto."

Is someone else doing conversions out there on Vallotton's? or is this a true conversion that has been legally dumbed down to make it more easily attainable in states with stricter knife laws?

Yeah, its time to break out the Jiffy pop....this is getting interesting....
and if this is indeed the case, I hope BHQ has extensive records to nail the yahoo who returned it.

I knew from pics it wasn't Butch' s work. It's definitely a more complex mod than what it's being passed of as there. I guess someone is slipping these back after purchasing the real ones.
I hope you give a real one a try. Definitely a favorite of mine.

^^* YUP!!!
Usually see this bait and switch from Amazon jfk!

This is some horrible hack job, +1 for bladeHQ doing a return. Otherwise it's a misrepresentation of the product based on the image they posted.

Do you still have yours? Does the scale screw hold the spring from coming all the way out? thx!
Here is another picture of mine showing the internals...

Added another...

Yes I'd n yes it does, however the length of said screw is only 2-3 thread depths beyond liner holding the spring in. No chance of it bending at all. Is the same way on my sere conversion as well

Was yours Dremeled or milled?.....sorry for all the questions...

I specifically remember being impressed with how clean everything looked in n around the mods. I'd have to say he used some type of milling machine. I don't see a dremel producing anything that cleanlooking. Friggin spell correct driving me nuts. No problem
