*SpyderNation - Open talk and hangout corner *

Just pre- ordered the 701 and 566...Need to forget about those for a while now back to the N5 110v and Manix XL CF...
Work week almost over and been waiting for 18 years for the big show at 3:00 on sunday...
Anyone have a recipe for roasted Raven?

I like knowing my knife can handle any job I may need it for.
I just realized over time I don't need a gigantic tank in my pocket to be able to do so.
I like some pocket tanks and they're nice, but going by practicality, I really don't NEED them or have any uses that they would necessarily excel at over my regular EDC's. A good EDC can handle anything I need it for, so I don't need overkill. I've also come to prefer smaller/medium knives over time as well.

My Sebenza can and has done everything I've asked of it, so have my other knives. =]

I also think you really limit yourself and miss out on some great(some of the BEST) knives by sticking to USA made. 95% of the other things you use in life aren't USA made and you don't care, so why do you care with your knives? My Taiwan Spydies are some of the best knives I own.

I've carried my Charge Tti for years and its really all the knife I need...but carrying a stand alone knife just puts a smile on my face.

I have to say can any of us justify a zt or even a para military? When I think about it all i need is a Swiss Army knife.

But alas blade play drives me nuts.....sigh

On a day-to-day basis, I could easily get away with just a SAK. However, if I'm legitimately doing work around the house or something like that, it's nice to have a Para 2 on hand.

For heavy work, I'd much rather use my charge or tenacious. This past Tuesday I cut open a bubble that developed on my bathroom ceiling with my tenacious. It was full of water from a leaking radiator valve upstairs. I like having beater blades and then my nice, elegant blades like my native and the para2.

Hell, I'm pretty sure if I would've used my zt, the bubble would've exploded :p

I could easily get by with an SAK and have.
But I really prefer to have a one bladed one hand opener because it makes it easier to get to and feels better in the hand.

However, I don't need super expensive knives, but I like them, so why not?

As far as a beater blade... My Para 2.. would be my beater blade. Lol. While my Para 2 is an excellent EDC, I wouldn't call it one of my nice elegant blades haha.

I could get away with my Leatherman, but I generally carry my Delica 4 as well.

I have the opinion that an 0560 is not overkill, but a Native 5 can be EDC with shorts or sweat pants. I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with the tool that you will need for what ever intended purpose you have in mind on any particular day.

I always carry a little Leatherman PS4 Squirt as part of my EDC, but carry a regular folder as well. For a while I was carrying a small folder and a large folder on a daily basis, but I decided that I rally don't need a backup. I probably COULD get by with the little PS4 Squirt for MOST of my daily needs, but honestly I feel naked when I walk out without a regular folder clipped to my pocket. That's why I have a Delica permanently stationed in each of my vehicles.

The Para 2 is an awesome EDC, and I don't really beat my knives up, though I use them for what I need done.

My Elegant knives are more along the lines of:
Large Sebenza
Caly 3 Damascus/CF
Air
Chaparral CF

I could get rid of these, carry my large SAK or get a smaller one and get by with it just fine.
But I don't wanna lol.

I buy made in USA WHENEVER I can and I am respectfully stating that you are not speaking for me when you make the blanket statement "you don't care, so why do you care with your knives"?I Choose to spend my hard earned money on what I want to spend it on and frankly I care 100% of the time and am very conscious if it is Made in USA or imported.I am aware that there is the possibility I will miss out on some truly great imported knives as I am open minded and agree that there are some great non-USA produced models. You have the choice to buy what you prefer and I have the choice to buy what I prefer. There are other knife producers besides Spyderco that offer Made in USA knives. The only way I am really limited it the fact that I could not possibly afford them all in my lifetime. Peace out.......

Respectfully ,

Hey everyone,
I am seriously wanting a Fluted Ti Military, I have found a few dealers that are taking Pre-orders, I thought it was gone for good but now I'm not so sure, Is Spyderco actually producing more?
Thanks for your help!!

SalmonKiller - I actually wasn't referring directly to you.
It's understood wanting to buy USA and people definitely have their preferences.

There are a lot of people out there that only snob toward one thing if it's not made in the USA yet every other single thing they buy is made over seas and they could really care less, so that's where it doesn't make sense. This doesn't mean you're like that but the majority of people I've met that are crazy about USA made only are like this.

I believe in supporting our country and our companies and businesses, but a lot of the things made over seas are owned by our USA companies as well.

I figure if it's good quality, I enjoy it, why not have it?

That's not how everyone does nor is it how everyone should think.

I guess I wasn't really directing towards anyone, I was just stating some facts and opinions.

People who want their knives made in the USA will buy the USA made knives only, and I will buy and enjoy my knives from all over the world. We're allowed to do that. :D

I also kind of think it's fun and neat to have things that come from other places. That's just me though.

I didn't mean to offend or upset you, and I'm sorry if I did.
I tries my best to explain my points and meaning in the post above.

Again, I'm sorry if I offended you.

We have different preferences, but that's okay. We both like knives(especially Spyderco's) and that's what matters. =]

Bladechick,
No offense taken. We all have a right to own opinions, preferences, and choices. You just as much as me and everyone else on this board. Spyderco is my favorite for many reasons including all the diversity that they offer in their catalog. Spyderco also offers the bonus of exclusives and sprints that include some pretty super steels which is a thing of beauty. Spyderco is literally on the cutting edge and that's exactly why I consider them the best production knife producer on the planet.
have a great weekend,

Go 49ers!

That's keeping it real and I respect that!

Thank you

To me, it's not that important where the knife is made.
I find that the quality is high regardless of the Spyderco factory it came out of.
I buy if the lines of the knife appeal to me.
