St. Patty's Day Give Away

What a generous giveaway.

I would put the black ash burl on a small flat ground clip point with an integral guard. I would probably use a liner, most likely black but possibly blue. Stainless hardware.

Thanks for the chance. :D

I like that Black Ash.
I think it would go well on a large cleaver I am working on. Stainless bolsters and butt plates on a CPM-154 blade. I would name it Beyonce - another sharp object with a stunning black ash.

Spalted maple, IB2V4U has it right, that just screams for a 4" DP hunter/ ss guard & pins in O-1. Nat color sheith trimmed in black.
DON'T get me wrong, ALL are great looking scales.
Thanks a bunch for the opp, Jerry

I would take that Dyed Elder Burl and match it with 5.5mm Takefu Suminagashi layered steel and to a fulltang thick pocket fixed blade.

I'd use Copper rivets that get sanded off and do a black OR Dark red sheath...or combination of the two for in the pocket carry.

Hi Larry. Thanks for the Give-A-Way.

I could see the Spalted Blackline Maple on a tactical I've had on the bench for a while. It would go to my stepson in Afghanistan. Have to make a sheath with black lines tooled across to match the handle for a camo look.

I would love the Walnut Burl on a SS fighter with a full brass guard and mosaic pins.

Thanks for your generosity.

Alex

The black line maple, I would put it on a Martindale Golag I am trying to redo.

I would love the walnut burl for scales on my damascus Zing. If it is taken, I would go for the dyed box elder burl for the Ritter M4 Griptilian I have ordered.

Thank you, Larry, for such a generous give-away!

I must say that Ash burl is gorgeous. I would want to use it on a hidden tang dagger, where I could turn the handle round and show off as much of the figure as I could of the wood, perhaps with a spherical pommel and a penny scroll guard.

I like the black line maple a lot.
I'd couple it with mild steel guards and pommel on a big ass bowie. :)

Thanks for the chance!

I'd use the black ash burl on a large blade with a handle that widens to follow the flow of the burl. Since I like spacers on hidden tang knives, probably something that enhances the watery ripples in the start of the burl. A bowie would certainly work well (it'd be my first) but a chef's knife would also be a possibility.

As much as I like the ideas brought to light before mine. I think the wood would look beautiful as a matched set for grilling. A large fork and a knife made with that wood and maybe some O1. Thats what I have on hand at the time. That way you could show off your tools at all those family get togethers that are coming our way. All the pieces would work. Just my idea.

I love the spalted maple, I would put it on a full tang bowie doing a coffin handle. I would pair it with ss bolsters and ss pins.

Thanks for the chance.

I like the black ash burl.

Id put it on a full tang chopping knife. Or maybe a smaller utility knife. Maybe a chisel. Id use it for sure, just not 100% sure on what.

I would go with the walnut. I think it would look good on a bowie/fighter with wrought iron fittings and a nice hamon. A good dark etch on the fittings would look good with the dark wood. Thanks for the chance.

Larry,
I would use the dyed Box Elder for an oyster knife as the blue/green reminds me of the ocean. Brass fittings would finish the look.

Nothing better than oysters and a pint to make any day brighter.

The Black ash is my favorite, but I have a 30plus year old Russell BBQ fork thats got some 1/4" X5" tines and a tapered tang and that walnut burl would set it off.

The (blue) dyed boxelder and I see it on a full tang skinner and perhaps a nickle bolster! Hey thanks for the opportunity!
