Starting a knife/edc related YouTube channel

I know that the firearm related channels have been demonetized.

Has this happened to knife related channels yet? If not, I would expect it to happen at any time.

I think the chances of making money via a YouTube channel probably isn't very high. If anything, I would expect to lose quite a bit of money between buying knives, equipment and the time invested.

I'd have to disagree. Though a month or two ago there was an article attempting to bring attention to Knife Rights and compare them to the NRA, knife laws are not a mainstream issue. The only reason gun channels were demonetized was for mainstream PR. I truly feel the knife community is "safe" from all that ;)

I agree that this is not a mainstream issue in the US...yet.

However, many parts of Europe have completely demonized even the most basic pocket knife. People are literally being put in jail for carrying a Swiss Army Knife. Anti knife propaganda is very common there. It started with firearms and now they've moved to knives.

A lot of communist ideas from overseas tend to eventually make their way to the US. I really wouldn't be surprised if Youtube demonetizes knife channels soon.

I have a separate Facebook page for my knives. A few months ago, I received an offer from Facebook to promote some of my posts. It was only a few dollars, so I figured I would give it a shot. I quickly received a message back from Facebook stating that they do not promote "weapons".

I would guess YouTube isn't far behind.

No, YouTube hasn't demonetized knife channels (yet). There was a brief period where some knife content was getting automatically flagged for demonetization, but usually, upon appeal to a human, it was restored. But they seem to have fixed that algorithm, or scrapped it, and ad money wise, things are slightly better than they were earlier this year.

I've heard of Firearm channels getting demonetized, but so far, I'm yet to hear of a channel which doesn't feature firearms at all having trouble. And I know of several that have both firearm and knife content that have no demonetization problems at all. I suspect the firearm demonetization is something that's 'policy', but only enforced for channels who get flagged somehow. I suspect a knife channel could get demonetized too, if they worked at it. But for now, knife content isn't blacklisted per se.

But regardless, don't start a YouTube channel to make money, period. Even if you're monetized, unless you're lucky, or you have something like Patreon, you'll be losing money on your time, even before you buy any gear.
