I didn't know spark was Jewish. I sent him an message but I didn't get an answer.

Well heck, if I was a conspiracy theorist I'd find a whole lot to read into that.

(But since Spark has been absent of late for personal reasons I'd wager it was something else.)

There is no good reason why we can't have a Christian forum here. There are plenty of other community forums.
Absolutely no reason. It's easy enough for people to a avoid it.

Having a religion forum on a non-religion site is like throwing raw meat into a pit with a bear and a tiger. Having a Christianity-only forum is no better, and probably worse. It's hard enough to get 2 Christians to agree on something, let alone excluding other religions. Inevitably discussion on religion leads to discussions on morality and why religion gets to be the end-all authority on what's right and wrong. Hot topics like abortion, gay marriage (or just homosexuality), stem cell research, etc. These topics, while there will always be a religious point of view, are not specifically religious topics, which means non-religious people will have to get in on the discussion, and then the shitstorm really ensues.

Having the Political Arena will bring up the same topics. Personally I could do without the PA, but it's been a part of the site for years. It has caused its share of problems in the past, which is why it was restricted to paying-members only, to weed out the people who just post there to stir shit up (although there has been paying members who did that too). Even then it has caused problems. More than it's worth, IMO, but this isn't my website.

Kevin Jon Schlossberg is Jewish?!?

Not that there's anything wrong with it... :p

(Then again, given the tenor of this thread perhaps we should submit the question to a higher authority...)

You bring up points that I hadn't considered. Politics and religion do overlap in a lot of the topics their adherents focus on. That's an excellent rationale for keeping both in the Political Arena.

As for a Christianity forum, whose Christianity? One of the problems in Politics is the tension between political junkies of different "sects". They all need to learn to accept each others' "troublemakers". Where else will they get any new ideas? :)

You...You're good...You're very good...

Kiah beat me to it ! :grumpy::(:o

To be fair, I'm eating some relish I got from the local Mennonites on my hot dog. Otherwise, I wouldn't have thought of it. ;)

Well a Christian forum would effectively be a "quarantine" for Christianity. That way Christian discussion would be confined to the forum instead of spilling over into many different forums as happens now. It makes no sense at all to be upset about a forum on a subject you don't like. In fact it just shows your disdain for that subject. I don't care if you you want to put an atheist forum right next to the christian forum. Just give us a little space to talk in peace, away from all you troublemakers. It would effectively quarantine us. Isn't that what you want?

of course, you fail to accept the possibility that you are the troublemaker.

re political, closing that forum is frequently discussed. members that post almost solely in that arena tend to be problematic, since their interest is not in knives, and many stumble upon bfc by doing a search for some political issue. the same type of people coming here as the result of googling some religious issue is the last thing anyone here needs.

as it is, political is viewed as a necessary "evil".

and when this guy starts spouting freedom of speech violations (which have been alluded to already), please allow me to respond.

I'm "very vocal" about my Christian faith and I'll gladly answer any sincere questions put to me when asked, but I think that a Christian Forum here at BF would do a disservice to the faith. There is a place and time, and though this is a proper place, it isn't the proper time. I couldn't support such a forum here.

I agree with David Guzik who wrote that our love for others must not blind us to their hardened rejection of the gospel. Our pearls of the precious gospel may only confuse unbelievers, who are blinded to the truth by the god of this age and may only expose the gospel to their ridicule.

SHUT THIS THREAD DOWN NOW!!!!!!!

I'm all for beliefs and everything but this thread has become excessively heated from the get go and needs to stop. Everyone stop snapping at each other. I agree totally that this is the reason why religion and politics aren't brought up in most conversation. People are just too passionate about what they believe in and do not want to be told otherwise.

I do strongly believe in my faith, but trying to incorporate that into bladeforums would not end well.

The Political Arena is not accessible to search engines. Unless permissions got screwed up in the last software update.

well that shoots that theory down.

then what's the explanation??

They bought a knife, they came here to find out about it, they found the Polit. Arena and liked it.

Why is it some people here spend so much time in W&C and the Cove? That's their politics and their religion. How did they find those forums?
