Hey guys,
I just wanted to give you a heads up on someone that you should avoid doing business with. Hall Handmade knives and it's owner/knifemaker Ian Hall have a horrible business practice. I initially found Ian off of IG and after looking at his work, which is beautiful, I contacted him directly and we had a great conversation & I agreed to buy a new hunting knife for the last deer season here in Illinois. The shape, size & wood preference, including pictures of several different blocks of wood were emailed to me. The choice was made, and I sent him the $$ back in October 2016. This is where it gets interesting. I didn't get any updates, and the finished product was due to be delivered by November 15th. That day was fast approaching and I DM'd Ian, and he said that "1000%" my knife would be in my hands by that date. I left him alone to do his work. Needless to say the 15th came & went, no messages, no emails, nothing. This went on until I saw on his IG page that he was going through troubles with mail theft, his wife's work schedule, childcare issues and a sick family member. I let it go, having empathy for him, yet still wanting my knife. I finally sent him a message saying that I wanted a refund. I received a reply saying it would be mailed, and I never got a thing, except more excuses. I had finally had enough and went to my bank, as I had paid via CC, and filed a claim. I hated to do it, as Ian seemed like a generally nice guy, maybe he is and is just horrible at running a business. I got my $$ back the same day and he is now Chase' problem. I only post this because I have been DM'd by a whole slew of guys that encountered the same thing that I have, and I wanted you all to know that you won't get anything but empty promises from Ian. Good luck to you all.
