I'd buy a 102 with a bigger handle before I'd buy a 117 with a smaller one.

Not sure how I feel about the undersized handle. MagnaCut adds to the price but 420HC would have been OK. Wish they had done something more visually different, drop the fuller, flat grind, colored handle... just something.

Undersized handle reminds me of a mini 917 bowie.

I’ve been waiting for a 117 with Magnacut blade for a good while but they really missed the mark on this one. Why would they put a dinky little handle on a good using knife????? If I wanted that size I would get a 102 but I don’t want that size!!! I already have a 102.

I’ve about had it with Bucks marketing scheme to try and milk every little niche that exists. They will hit close to the mark but rarely hit it dead center. I have cut way back on buying the last couple years because of this type of production. What’s next another random pattern colored handle with a vg10 blade?

Wasn't there a BCCI knife a couple years back with a 102 Shokwood handle and 117 blade? I seem to recall there were concerns then about that handle size on the 117.

Anyone here care to share their experiences?

I ordered one, but I have reservations about it. I've always felt that the 102 handle was on the small size to begin with. I'd have preferred a magnacut blade with an unusual handle material.

And BCCI had them available for some time. They didn't sell well.

It looks good, I like Buck's Magnacut, and the price isn't bad at all, but I'm going to pass. I'm an old dinosaur, and I've come to really like big, fat, comfortable handles on my knives.

Yeah..That be nice. The only brass one I have is that Ironwood 35th BCCI anniversary one.

I like Bucks Magnacut but I, like others, will pass on this one as well. The 102 handle on a 117 blade doesn’t sit right with me (or in my hand). I’ll stick to the 5160 117

I'm in. I love 117s and Magnacut. I have weird taste and tend to like the ones that end up sitting in stock for a year because no one else does
