OP, I don't think you're going to find an ounce of sympathy here. You're dead wrong, and that's all there is to it. The best thing you could do is to remove all of the negative posts you've made regarding this incident, admit that you're wrong, apologize to the man, and move on.

Good observation Tim, it does seem like this guy has some practice at being an obnoxious bully.

I honestly hope that this guy posts this all over the internet. That way Brous has plenty of evidence to sue this guy for everything he's worth.

Then he'd learn the lesson that sometimes the squeaky wheel doesn't get greased, it just gets beat with a hammer until it doesn't squeak anymore.

I personally would not do business with him either. Not only is the post sheer stupidity but it borders on blackmail.

I agree, adult bullies usually have experience stemming from their youth.

However I was just alluding that he seems to specialize in bullying to get something monetarily out of it.

Kind of like people that to receive an item and complain about it enough to get their money back for it too.

I saw plenty of that happen on ebay to aquitances, thats why I no longer do business on ebay.

If it wasn't for this thread I never would have gone to the Brous site and discovered his sweet neck knives.
Cool designs, great steel at a very reasonable price.

Funny how I've suddenly developed an interest in a blade maker I would never otherwise have heard of, too! What goes around comes around!

Posting about his customer experience is perfectly legal, and there is no recourse a business has for customers posting reviews on the Internet. Official sounding language in an e-mail signature doesn't trump basic freedoms, OP is well within his rights to voice his opinion and share an e-mail correspondence that was sent to his e-mail address, just as everyone else is within their rights to disagree with him. It didn't work out the way he thought it did anyway, but to suggest that a federal crime was committed is even more ridiculous than the OP wanting a check for a knife he bought.

It is what it is. A lot of retailers have a policy about this exact thing - it usually favors the customer. That type of conditioning makes it hard on small businesses, and the Internet makes sure that people know about every unhappy customer. If I had a sale for the next week lowering prices by 10% every day though, I would expect some pissed off customers from Monday to be banging my doors down on Friday - this reaction doesn't surprise me whether I agree with it or not. Does it really surprise anybody else? I'm really more sympathetic to the businessman just because I have dealt with entitled customers more than I have unaccomodating salespeople (he didn't degrade as far as most people would in his replies either, and OP's complaints are absurd compared to the trespasses other knifemakers have made against their customers), but he should have known that somebody would ask for the difference of the two sales back. The American public is becoming an unbearable target market - just search the word boycott, I bet you don't find a brand that hasn't made somebody mad.

Its probably a good idea to give folks credit for discounts but the seller is in no way *obligated* to do it. Given the language and veiled threats, its not surprising that Jason chose not to do it.

As a 20+ hear survivor of the service industry (restaraunt/bar), it rarely ceases to surprise me how far some petty people will go to "get theirs" or damage themselves and businesses because of a perceived slight. The interweb makes everyone an instant expert and critic and some people can't help themselves but behave like entitled twits. Hopefully they don't behave like that in public, but some do. I intend to look at Brous blades and maybe buy at full price, when I get some disposible income........
