I new to this medium, so please bear with me. You will find a simular posting from joverton (me), sorry.
We are "Deloro Stellite", a manufacturer of cobalt and nickel alloys.

We can provide "Stellite" 6K knife blanks to anyone that would like to make knives from this material. A drawing must accompany the order. For more details please call 800-267-2886 and ask to speak to Ozzie Bell our Sales Manager.

Although we manufacture 6B, we recommend only 6K for knife applications.

Deloro Stellite is the only manufacturer of Stellite 6B and 6K. We do not make 6BH and therefore it is not "Stellite".

What are the advantages of Stellike 6K over tool and stainless steels for knife blades?

On what types of materials would 6K give better edge life and roughly what kind of difference are we talking about? Are the material properties of 6K available for public viewing?

Eight times the ability of D2 is fairly strong performance. Was there a person doing the cutting or a machine? If it was a person how was he doing it? How was the stopping point determined?

I checked out the site and did find the following page :

http://www.stellite.com./alloycast.html

Are any of those alloys listed 6K? The properties I am interested in are : Yield and Tensile strength, bend fracture strength, charpy value, and abrasive wear characteristics.

if i remember correctly, talonite is also a cobalt alloy. how does stellite compart with talonite?
for the makers, i remember reading an article in Blade magazine where a maker forged a stellite knife. IIRC, he was using an airhammer and it took him a LONG time. i guess the usual process is stock removal and since it has incredible edge retention, it must be a bugger to grind.
any makers ever work with the stuff?

hello deloro, this is automags@aol.com, i've consulted your company about stellite before. i'm looking foward to trying a peice, just need some spare time to work on a knifeblade for my self. can stellite take a nice mirror finish, or should i satin finish it? how is stellite formed into bars, hot rolled or cold rolled? can stellite be cut with a plasma cutter. could you e-mail me a price for 1/8"x 1 1/2" x 11" thanks.

ONE MORE TIME: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST PER POUND? .....please

Could be they are avoiding lawsuits from price related cardiac arrests.

Deloro is this just a ad, if you are not willing to answer a few questions?

Guys:
As I said in a few direct emails to request for quotes, "Our Sales Manager is out of town until Monday. I will follow up with him and you at that time.". I was traveling on Friday and was unable to respond to your messages.

6K is expensive to make and we would like to be as competitive a possible on pricing. Please give me a little time to discuss this with our sales and operations group.

There have been a few comments from some peoples about drawings and their desire to do profiles themselves. I just suggested the use of our laser as an aid to producing several knives ( or one ) without having to remove excess material before you receive the parts. It does require you to have some idea of your final product before you order. I realize you may want to stock material rather than produce a product immediately. I sorry if I offended anyone with this comment

Deloro:

I would be interested in the pricing also. It would be nice to be able to send you a drawing and get back a blank ready for finish work.
