I am simply flabbergasted by what I just saw in that video. I am very happy for you Petey.
I am stunned that he finished up so many of these without any communication with anyone... I am stunned that he is still able to work apparently and all of this has transpired.

^ +1

I am also just as flabbergasted, by the fact that this awesome Detective, gave you guys such a forceful voice & turned this into an actual investigation! Provided you're all made whole, & you decide to do something nice for this guy, please count me in. :)

Some still shots from today...

I know almost nothing about what I'm seeing here, but I know that I'm very glad you have your knives back and are pleased with them. Hoping yours is only the first!

I'm liking what I'm reading today!

You can say that again! Totally has made my MONTH!

Lo and behold what shows up today. My Horseman

I would like to think that this sudden output of services was internally motivated from Ketchen himself, but I'm afraid it was a result of external pressure applied from Clinton PD with the specter of felony charges around the corner...we're gettin results, but I'd be lying to myself <and everyone> to neglect to mention that I still can't shake this lingering melancholy and nostalgia I have for the 110% solid Steve Ketchen of a couple years ago before he went AWOL. :(

Kelama...at this point, I'm thinking about paying forward the Chaparral that @Hackenslash gifted me by sending it along to the Det. I'm thinking about enclosing a card saying thanks from BladeForums members...if that's not kosher @RevDevil or bhyde bhyde , et. al. let me know please, thank you.

I've already emailed the Detective and his Chief expressing my personal thanks. I TOLD  the Chief to bump the Det's pay grade, give him a promotion, and be sure to leave extra donuts for him in the squad room. All my forwardness probably succeeding in doing was likely getting him tanked lower than whale poop on the Chief's s*#t list. :p

Purchased mine well before any of this debacle began and only have one set of his but was more than happy with his responsiveness and his work.

Not sure how many times I either showed off the knife in various threads or recommended him based off my experience. Feel kind of bad if that in any way convinced some to try him out and they ended up getting this lousy treatment.

Hope it pans out for everyone.

Well mail came and no surprise from Ketchen. At least olight came through so have a couple of really good flashlights to play With.

Katana you are 100 percent correct. I don't think we would have had any movement from Ketchen without their help... funny how things started to move when we submitted emails with pictures of our missing blades along with values.

This isn't over yet, Ketchen still has some blades to return to some ticked off people.

This may be a bit premature but I was just wondering if he will get back into bussiness again. His rep is destroyed and it will be a long hard road to regain trust from folks.

Just wonderin about that myself Ernest...

The way I feel right now, I wouldn't send him a job. I wouldn't begrudge anyone who did...

BUT, I will go on record to say this...when/if Ketchen delivers on ALL his backlogged jobs and RE-ESTABLISHES his reputation by meeting deadlines and delivering his drop-dead stunning scales for a number of BForummites...I would DEFINATELY give him another shot at the title...

I'm 100% sure, from the onset of starting this thread till today, that all the members involved ALWAYS wanted Ketchen to right the ship. Hope springs eternal...if it didn't, what would be the point in going on?

A suggestion (unsolicited) for Ketchen, if you wish to start over and regain trust, why not offer any REPEAT customers (since they have paid you before) your work and they pay AFTER they receive the finished product (if you keep a knife, of course, your rep is TOTALLY DEAD)? It's only the reverse of what people have done for you (money first), and would allow them to post the results and show you are not taking on more than you can handle. :) You will then, I believe, start getting more orders from new people (perhaps charging half up front) who have renewed reason to trust you. Just my .02 (again)

I will reserve judgement until I have received my knife back... hopefully with new scales. By looking at the work he did for you Pete he is truly a craftsman of the highest order.. mighty fine looking knives brother.

Throughout this forum there always seemed to be an undercurrent of folks trying to nudge Steve onto the right track. A lot of conclusions or should I say theories of what was going on were tossed about Due to him being silent and non responsive to inquiries.
That in mind, people seemed to circle back to the work he had done and what a joy it was to work with him. I just wonder if he didn't fall behind and get into a funk or just go through a burn out phase. What ever the reason leaving people in the blind and lying certainly cast a dark stain on his reputation. Although I have yet had the opportunity to enjoy the quality of his work I am hopefully looking foreward to it.

You can send whatever you like to whomever you like- you own it..my only reservation behind this, on a personal level that has nothing to do with being a mod here is that this person was doing his job. Otherwise, a very nice gesture.

Congrats on getting your stuff back!
Really sad that Steve went off the rails like this, we all hate to see anyone go down such a path.

Thanks for the reply...
I wasn't really asking mod's permission to give away a knife gifted to me-- I'm clear on that point...but rather if Spark or you guys would take umbrage with me saying it was from BladeForums members if I were to pay it forward.

Good point on the Det. just "doing his job" -- taken under advisement and I'll likely follow what you've implied by stating that...

Too bad everyone couldn't get gifted an extra bonus of a nice knife every time they had a successful day on the job...

Because if that happened, you'd probably have more Busse's than @Jaxx, right? ;) :p:)

At any rate, I just don't feel right holding onto @Hackenslash 's Chappie now that I've gotten my original back, it's totally in my head, but I'd feel better at this point passing the goodwill on.

Maybe, I'll do a GAW here @ BF...PM me some cool suggestions on how to keep the good karma train rollin...please don't post em up in the thread as long as we have outstanding Ketchen orders still out please, thank you!

Probably depends on how you refer to Bladeforums-
You can probably go the safe route and say "from the affected members of Bladeforums" pretty safely.
Makes it pretty clear whom it's from and really- I think it's a really nice gesture!
