I have in all 3 ivory knives of elephant (2 Breniere and a Lloyd) but I believe that I would not buy it any more. I does not feel me comfortable with the idea of the ivory of elephant. I enjoy the mammoth ivory because I know that the animal died in "maid" conditions.

Stephane, you have a most amazing collection!Every single one appeals to my tastes and you have furthered my conviction to rid myself of all production knives and focus on finely crafted customs. My bank account might disagree.
Your presentations are fun to view and present the knives from a unique perspective.
Pray tell, where is the slingshot from? Another of my "interests" and I ave never seen anything quite like it.
Merci!

Nozyk,
Thanks a lot for the compliment !

It is true that knife craft(home-made) are often a little more expensive that the industrial productions but it is so pleasant to discuss with the craftsman to get closer to most his desire(envy) and to wait for its knife to receive it finally! But I have to say that it have very beautiful knives manufacturer there also.
In France there is not bad young craftsman which(who) do not make too high price.

Thank YOU Stephane!

I could not agree more. I was not implying in any way that the craftsmen, artists really, who make these knives are too highly priced by any means.Indeed,I have several which were priced well below some production models. The allure is exactly what you mention, working with a maker for a one off piece unique to you or acquiring one he made for whomever might be lucky enough to see it first. Being individually hand made, one is assured a unique piece.Do you carry and use most/some of these from your collection?

Thank also for the catapult info!

Yes Lausanne is an attractive city, a little bit small but attractive.

Please accept my apologies for neglecting this thread, I'm not sure how that happened! You have a wonderful collection my friend, beautifully photographed :)

I haven't been to Lausanne for about five years, but I have travelled all over Switzerland, and it remains one of my favourite places :)

Nozyk,

It is often the arrived last one who finds himself in my pocket, but it turns all the same not bad. And when I am at home I use very often several knives. But I have to say that I often return towards those who have a steel blade carbon because I adore even the patina settle down.

Jack Black,

Many thanks my friend ! maybe one day we can drink a beer and have a talk about knives in switzerland !

Pocketknifesheaths, Thank

2 new young finished. I have not received them yet, but I am so satisfied that I already put photos that the cutlers sent to me.

On Saturday, there was a little sun! It made for a long time!

Rackets(Snowshoes) in feet, knife in the pocket is not more missing than my dog and ! HOP ! all in the car direction the mountain.

Small walking of 3 hours to arrive at a mountain lake or divers make of it plunged under the ice.

I really look forward to that the summer comes but the winter offers all the same very beautiful landscapes!

Thanks for taking us along!

However did you decide which knife to take? Did you have any others tucked away, just in case? ;)

This was my favorite of many great photographs:
