Stockman roundup.. Lets see 'em...

Yes thank you Greg and Anthony. I almost owned the Blood Brothers Barlows once. Cripple Creeks are great.

That is correct Anthony. They are rare and very sought after. Those little 5 bladers are a real treat ain't they. I believe the overall closed length is about 3 3/8 inches.
Greg

Charlie, we posted at about the same time. Yes, Anthony's 5 blader is a 81 and all the ones I have are as well. No date in the circle and the CC shield pretty much narrows it down to being a 81. There were only a few knives made in 82 that didn't have the dated tang stamp. Cargill was pretty busy making the Knife World anual knife about then. About 2000 of them. Actually, any 82 made CC is pretty rare outiside of the Knife World knives. There were only about 25 stag trappers built in 82 for a knife club and any others would probably be even less in number. Like I said, all his time was devoted to the Knife World knives in that time period and there wasn't much time to build much of anything else.
Greg

Yep, 1981 is correct of coarse. I got my first Cripple Creek slippy's in the late 1980's & early 1990's at a few local shows down here where I still reside. But more importantly, I was able to get my first authentic Cripple Creek and Bob Cargill history lessons from non other than Greg in about 2004-2005 after I joined up here in this fine community.. I was quite fortunate to have Greg and a few other select fine members as well in here like Bobby Branton, Mike Roebuck and several others guide me and provide some great documentation in the process regarding the Bob Cargill and CC story. Its been a fun ride too and I'll be forever grateful for all the aforementioned members sharing and enlightening me in this regard!

This place is the best traditional knife community on the entire web thanks to fine folks like Greg! He and the above mentioned are some real good guys

Anthony, I believe I got my first "Cargill" marked knife from you!
Nice big Barlow. Enjoyed it while I had it, but somebody talked me out of it! Nice memories!

I believe I remember that Daddy Barlow, in stag as I recall(?) I am pleased you enjoyed it while you had her in you're custody. ;) :D

Stag it was! Light, but gnarly right across - just a beauty!!

This is a really beautiful knife there. Makes me wish even more that I had not waited so late in years to start collecting. I missed out so much in the premium years of knife making. Thanks for posting all the pictures in this thread.

O.M.G....those knives are just bloody beautifull-I am starting to see why they command good money...what wonderfull knives!

Luciano, sounds right to me. Here is my RAT railsplitter in ram's horn-- a very stout knife.

Technically, according to BRL, the railsplitter would be considered an offshoot of a cattle knife rather than a stockman. (For what it's worth.)

Here's a few images of a late 40's, early 50's Schrade-Walden. It's been cleaned and the spey blade reground.

Greg, that knife still looks great!

It was left behind as I ventured out seeking fame and fortune only to be found again many years later. That's why it is in good shape Growing up on the Western Slope of Colorado you were pretty much limited to Western knives out of Denver. I remember the older guy in the sporting goods store trying to talk me out of buying it because he wanted to buy it when he got paid.
