Stolen collection in Rancho Cucamonga

Anyone here who has an ebay account should make a winning bid on all of the OP's knives to buy him some more time.

Do not call or E-mail the Detective, GO to the station and see a Supervisor and give him the info you have uncovered. Sometimes a strategic fire lit under the butt of an unmotivated Cop can result in immediate action!!

Sorry to hear this.

You must persist with the detective to contact eBay directly where they have a special contact form for law enforcement. Once they do that, eBay's "attorneys will provide important records about pending and past listings in response to an official request from law enforcement officials. When the law enforcement official contacts us, ask that he or she include all relevant information, including the case number and any item numbers or user IDs. This information appears on the listing page. Please don't use the law enforcement form to contact us unless you are a law enforcement official."

There was a case of a family who would travel around the country shoplifting toys that they'd fence on eBay for a lot of money. Fortunately, the Feds finally caught up with them in March 2014.

These are clearly YOUR knives and it would be unfortunate if someone were to unknowingly buy a stolen item. The op needs to try to get a response from the PD/ebay asap. While buying your knives to hold unto them is a very generous gesture, it requires a lot of the benefit of the doubt and can potentially cause more issues.

I really hope you get your stuff back.

Time is running out.....

I suspect there will be a new batch when these end.

....Almost forgot. DO NOT contact the seller/thief.

Please let the OP handle this.

Sadly, there were probably multiple people who messaged that seller as soon as the link was posted. "OMG THIEF GIVE THOSE KNIVES BACK!!"

Clearly, guy's not worried, since those auctions are still up.

^^^
Well I think he's worried enough now.
All the listings are suddenly down.....I sincerely hope the OP gets his knives back. Hopefully he gets a response from the PD soon and is able to retrieve information on the thief. Perhaps it would of been better to privately message the OP about the ebay listings, but everything was done with good intentions. I don't even want to think of the possibility that a random member or visitor here tipped off the thief.

Even though he ended all his listings the PD can still retrieve his information via a warrant on ebay right?

Bummer. Let's face it, pictures of knives aren't gonna put anyone behind bars. Special thanks to the douchebag who tipped him off. Your the toast of the community.

If this was the guy, it wasn't necessarily someone here that tipped them off. If you type in "Camillus cuda maxx stolen" or "stolen knives Rancho Cucamonga" into google, this thread comes up as one of the first results. You don't have to be logged in to see this part of the forum. Anyhow, hopefully the OP was able to talk to a detective about these ebay auctions. I'm not going to say that this was the guy who stole actually them (that's for law enforcement to decide), however if it was, he wasn't too smart putting them up for sale on ebay when only living the next town over, lol.

I had a link up for the listings when I first saw them, page 1.

Doubt is was anyone from here who said anything.

It was either the very presence of this thread on the net, or (I hope) the listings are down because of the OP.

I hope we can get an update from him.....

Thanks for all the well-wish and concern. I'm still working on getting a response.

I am sure the detective is working as his schedule allows and rationally I know that mine is only one case among the many he works. But to me this has much greater impact than any other case. I don't want to come off like I'm blaming the police for not chasing after this fire, but just want to establish a line of contact.

I might take up the station visit approach if I don't hear back by Friday.

Thanks.

Best of luck to you.

The frustrating part is when it's all right there, and nothing seems to be getting done.

Hope it all works out.

Seeker, If I was you I would definitely keep in touch with the Detective. Like I said above, the police are at the mercy of the business who holds all the personal information, in your case ebay. Ebay will not just hand over the information without a court order. Once they receive the court order they don't typically respond in a timely fashion. They will eventually respond to the order and release the information to Law Enforcement. They have to have their legal dept. (Lawyers) review everything before giving up the info. Ebay, being so huge, has a backlog of this sort of stuff. I hope you get your knives back.

Ya, I keep coming back here hoping for an update, but I think it's going to be a while, I doubt it's gonna turn out good.....

Even the dumbest theif would eventually learn about this thread, or be notified about it just because of the way Google works....

There was a real window there to get this guy, hope the 'detectives' used it.....
