I know this is silly, but I balked a bit when I read that Steve Austin had a hand in the design of the Cold Steel Broken Skull I. Something about his persona. Might be a lovely man in real life though.

The knife on it's own merit looks awesome. Slim, 4" clip point at 3 oz in XHP for under $100! Like a Buck 100 and an Al Mar ultralight had some sort of bastard child and then sent him to Cold Steel boot camp to give him a spine. Needless to say, I want one... Or 4.

100% agree. Looks like a great knife but I'm really not into wrestling and the whole Broken Skull/Stone Cold badass thing makes me cringe.

I was a huge Steve Austin fan back when he was still in the then-WWF. Nowadays I don't really care for wrestling or follow Mr. Austin's exploits, but is anyone really surprised? Steve Austin has a similar persona to Lynn Thompson.

To be fair to Mr. Austin, I'm pretty sure that he can kick a lot of ass without a 7 1/2 inch Espada :p

I fully agree as well. It seems like they could sell a lot more of these knives if they offered a non coated blade option and if it did not say "BROKEN SKULL" on the blade. This knife is their lone star hunter done in G-10, I doubt "stone cold" had anything to do with the design. They should put more into promoting the genius of Demko instead of some washed up fake wrestler.

It's more the name/knife juxtaposition for me. The new Chaos Stiletto? They could call that the Dismbowelatron Deanimator 5000 and I probably wouldn't blink, but this is pretty clearly a fairly practical large EDC/folding hunter. That just makes the name seem a lot doofier. I honestly gained some respect for Austin upon seeing which knife he chose to promote, as it has a ton of features that make it a very realistic choice at an excellent price, I just kind of wish he'd held off a bit.

I do kind of want to wander around carrying a STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN COLD STEEL BROKEN SKULL...with a pink handle.

The whole wrestling/fighting thing never interested me. I knew the name Steve Austin, of course, but until Cold Steel started showing pics of him on their site and facebook page, he could have stood right next to me and I wouldn't have recognized him. I'd just have thought, "Damn! I wouldn't want to pi$$ that guy off!":D Given that, the association doesn't effect me one way or the other. The Broken Skull name is a bit macho for my taste, but it wouldn't dissuade me from purchasing the knife, were it one that really interested me. I'd just sort of look at the name, go "meh," and slip it in my pocket.

for the most part its nothing more than a g10 lone star hunter with better steel.too bad its black coated and has no liners, even though its light for a large knife, I see no need to buy one.

Still waiting for that tip-up XHP or 3V Tuff Lite. I don't care if the handles are pink acrylic with glitter and the blade has a lime green coating with swastikas on it. I'll just grind off the coating and enjoy the amazingness.

Also, Broken Skull and no skullcrusher? I know it's a Steve Austin reference, but still...

Pretty nice looking knife, I must say. Not a fan of writing on the blades, but the shape is nice.

Targeted for a certain group. Many of austins fans or ones that appreciate him and his act/craft, seem to be cold steel fans. Likely the same that love the meat slashing and hacking stuff videos. Knife looks useful. I might buy one, but the marketing isnt helping me personally spend money. Course im not the target audience either.

I agree about the logo on the blade. If I buy one I'll definitely be stripping the coating and polishing off any etching left over. Cool knife otherwise.

For the most part nobody really cares what knife I carry for the day. Doubt they'll even notice the writing. For the price I'll have to live with it.

While I have a truckload of Cold Steel products I've always found their clippoints to be spectacularly ugly and the Broken Skull is no exception. With it's pastel colored handles I'm surprised CS chose Austin as the 'face' of the knife and also that Austin wanted to be associated with the knife. I know nothing about the real Steve Austin and as someone said above, he could be a lovely man. In any case CS is already involved with Steven Seagal who is a piece of work in real life.

Good point. I don't mind Steve Austin at all. Seagal's ego ate his career years ago and never spit it back out.

He is a pretty talented martial artist, though.

I'm not at all surprised they chose Steve Austin as a face to go with this knife; I'm no wrestling fan, but brilliant marketing strategy considering his rabid long time wrestling fan base now most of whom are in their 20's and early 30's, (have you ever seen how packed every single event is when wwe is in town? Many of whom are your impressionable and stereo typical "mall ninja" types, who have no idea the difference between a cool looking mTech or a $200 Benchmade).

CS already has a love/hate relationship here amongst die hard knife knuts, and we (mostly)/already know what they make from a quality standpoint, but keeping in mind that we are a very small minority within the overall knife market, at the sub $100 going prices, (in multiple colors), throwing a face of a wrestler with that kind of fan base behind him, more then likely just sold an exponential number more CS knives, then if they would've tried to appeal to the knife Knut crowd more, many of whom are already dead set stubborn in their ways of either hating everything CS, or respecting the knives regardless of how they feel about Lynn.

I'm on the later boat, and gotta say, shoe er's name is or isn't on the knife it's a good looking knife IMO, and I like xhp Steel, so more then likely I pick one up somewhere along the way.

Honestly, I think this is actually a great knife for us knuts, name or no name. It sure as heck looks like a nice, practical blade with a ton of features that should come together to make it a really great carry knife. I don't like the name or the silliness but, while I'll reserve judgement until I have one in hand, I honestly don't know if there's a stronger offering on the market given size, weight and price. CS may as well pick a silly name to market it to other because I predict an awful damn lot of us will make some room for a Broken Skull in our collection.

Heck, a Cold Steel take on the Endura concept that's bigger, lighter, packs a stronger lock, better steel, a more premium handle material and at a pretty comparable price? I think you really have to chalk that up as a win for CS no matter how much you might dislike the name, the owner or the company. On paper at minimum, this is a damned impressive offering.

I'd love to have a Steve Austin knife, he made the attitude era the best that professional wrestling ever had, not to mention that I like the looks of the knife  I just wish he was still wrestling.

a few years ago I heard something about him speeding up in front of a guy in his huge truck and slamming on his brakes because the guy was driving too slow, but then I never heard the whole story it may not even bee true but it just sounded so much like him that I believed it.

It's actually a very functional knife.

4"clip point blade
5" simple, g10 handle, no liners
Cts XHP steel with dlc

Thumb studs with tip up left, right carry.

Awesome.

It's a design that Buck should have capitalized on with there 110 bucklite.

I'd buy this knife

Because Stone Cold said so!

And that's the bottom line!

Don't be fooled. Steve actually carries a sebenza ;)
