Stoned Ivory

Just a great piece, Don! And, Coop really nailed it!

Holding off on that curved blade until the right piece of ivory showed up really paid off. The unique lines of this one really work once the two meet. That ivory is awesome, to say the least.

Perfect guard in place. The copper works well with this one, and I think that hamon is just plain cool!

This would be a great EDC for Jack Sparrow. :D

Great job of turning an odd shaped blade into a top notch piece.

Absolutely beautiful Don. You are really going to have to work to surpass this one!

Very nice Don I love it. I have a thought as to what the rocks were for I think they were used to hold in a string. It was a big needle.

I really like this combination. I love the material choices you use to compliment the ivory colors-not to mention I like this piece of ivory a lot. Overall a package I'd be proud to own. Great job.

Been looking at this one for a while.

Don(and most of the regulars here) knows that I don't like ivory for knife handles...too unpredictable, especially here in the desert...could be a heartbreaker.

This is a really special knife, imo. Very organic handle, shaped and polished judiciously, with a blade that just seems to flow perfectly out of that stunning handle....great lines, proportion and materials all the way around.

It is an absolutely fine looking piece of art that could be used, and probably used very hard....it transcends the mundane.....doesn't get much better than that.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Don, you found a samsquanch's sock darning needle! I hope you provide full disclosure, so your patron realizes why the handle smells like socks:p

Dang Bro, I'm reading it but ain't believing it. ;) :)

Anyway welcome, and glad to have you among the ivory lovers of the world. :)

I agree and I am VERY impressed with STeven's comment. I think a rule of thumb should be that if STeven likes a knife, its value should go up. :)

And I'm sorry to be an ass, just speaking from the heart.

Anything with 'Stoned' as a title gets STeven all worked up. ;)

CYA guys. Off to Chicago.

An update for all concerned. The "Stoned Walrus" arrived today safe and sound. Goes up on the bench really soon and then off to its new home.
