Store Owners & Sellers Beware

Thanks everyone for exposing this scumbag! He just placed an order on my website for three Sebenza's! A quick search here saved me a lot of grief. You guys are the greatest! I'll post the info he supplied me if anyone thinks it will help the authorities catch him.

About two weeks after my last post in this thread and the post on the other sites, the Israli police called and I talked a good while to a detective who was well aware of this guy and his scams. He assured me that they were close to nailing him.

How do you know you were talking to the Israeli police and not Vlad Pavlov?

Neil, quite often the reason that the charge backs happens is that the person that put in the order is not the card owner. When this person sees that his card has been used for a purchase that he/she didn't make, they will dispute the charge. This will always lead to a charge back, because it actually was a fraudulent purchase.

Another charge back happens when a credit card company is contacted and told that something that was ordered and paid for was never received. When this happens the credit card company will contact the seller and ask for proof that the item was received by the purchaser. If the seller can not provide proof then a charge back will be issued. This is something that can't be done on a regular basis or it will be obvious to the credit card company that something isn't right.

Keith,

Is there some reason, that I cannot figure out, why exactly you are telling me all this?

This is freaky. I would have sworn I had replied to a post of yours where you had wondered why it was so easy to do a charge back. I must really be losing it.

Keith,

I think that "freaky" is an accurate description of you.

I believe that in the 8 years I have been an online seller of knives, 99% by CC, and 25 years prior as a retailer in another field, that I would have a good handle on how to deal with credit cards.

Next time you are bored, want to increase your post count and decide to take a cheap shot at me, pick a better topic.

Neil

I remember somebody asking that question. I can't find it in this thread ... no, here it is -- back on page one.

I don't know where you get the idea I was taking a cheap shot at you, but maybe you should take a pill. I have never done anything but support you in the past and I honestly thought that you had asked the question.

You can keep your comments about wanting to increase my post count to yourself as well. It's really none of your damn business how often I post.

Neil, if you feel I was somehow trying to insult you by inferring that you don't know your business, that was not my intent. I honestly thought that I saw a post from you that obviously wasn't there and I was just trying to help. I will be sure not to make that mistake again.

I thought the same thing when I read the post: why would the Israeli police call anyone in the USA about a credit card fraud case??? If anything - which I doubt – they would write a letter.

Well, someone posted a link to this thread about Mr. Pavlov on my forum - at www.waronline.org we run a russian-language forum mostly about the IDF, but we also have a section dedicated to knives, where users post reviews, and sometimes sell/buy ads.
Immediately my email inbox filled up with numerous threats from Pavlov, where he demanded that I remove the link to this thread and any information about him. Otherwise, he threatened to spam my forum (which he tried to do), and tarnish it on bladeforums as well.
Moreover, he has also sent complaints to my hosting provider, claiming that he had received “death threats” from us, trying to make them shut down my website.
Now, I would like to ask permission to quote some of your stories about Pavlov in my correspondence with my hosting provider, to prove that he is the fraud.
Also, since many of our members do live in Israel, I would like to offer our help with dealing with the Israeli police, if anyone is interested.

Thanks. I noticed he already posted here - the locked thread just below this one. I'm not really sure what's he trying to achieve by that, but I guess he's just scared that information about him will get out.

EveryBody Involved: I know credit card companies are a part of our life, when it comes to people you do not know get payment before shipment, outside of other dealers who know my reputation and manufactuers I deal with regularly, my purchases are paid for up front wheather it be my constuction business or on custom knives, deal with reputable people, with a grain of salt new people need to be felt out and overseas sale are always suspect unless you use paypal etc. I feel for your loss , makeup money comes out of our pocket! On International sales I would take a 14 day clearing period or wait for a local sale. This is easy for anyone to say when they are trying to make money. Any sale such as out of country on a shaky card and address is suspect. Its a risk no matter who of us bites.
