Stretch?

Hi Bravo,

The question would really be; what would the beef offer? Thicker isn't always tougher or stronger, despite that it may appear to be so. The Stretch is a pretty tough knife as is. What are you trying to achieve with thicker stock?

Mmm. I am all for deepening the choil! That was the one thing that didn't "feel" just right in my hand when I got to handle the stretch at knifeworks recently. I would also love to see an iteration of the stretch offered in a different blade shape. I would be all over either of those first two that Deacon posted!

And like L2bravo said, as long as we are at Disneyland, I'll take mine in h1! ;).

I think the stretch is fine the way it is. For a heavier version, there's always the Gayle Bradley.

Always love your insight Sal.

Off topic: Would it be too much to ask for a Centofante 3 in zdp189?:D

Seriously, I would buy at least three.

Sal, first off, I think it is really awesome that you take a lot of time, and answer/respond to questions, as well as look/listen to input. You are a class act all the way.

I was thinking more strength, but you have indicated that might not be the case. I trust your judgement on this. How hard would it be to offer a 3V version of this?

As far as those referring to the GB, I have one. It's awesome. There is also a vast difference in a midlock knife though as well.

I agree with not going with a thicker stock, it's fine as it is. I also would like a Centofante 3 with ZDP-189. :D Maybe with a burgundy handle?

Loves him some H1! LOL

Sal, I've suggested this before to you but I'm not sure if you read it, kind of a wild idea but can you consider moving the Stretch to Taiwan? I figure more steels options would become available and I'm happy with Japan maker's quality obviously but knives like the Ti Chaparral and Southard are just out of this world and I can only imagine what they can do to our Stretch.

Examples:Ti-bolstered wood Stretch in S90v...G10 20CP Stretch with Southard like precision OHHHH MY! Cost prohibitive perhaps but talk about dream builds! Those would be knives without compromise, not sure how much better a folder could get.

That's a damn good knife that GB, I had three :eek:I miss mine passed them along to fund the hobby gotta get another someday. Only other knife I ever had triplicates of is the Stretch (in different versions), maybe these two do have a correlation eh?

I'm thinking of changing the Stretch pattern. Make a deper finger choil like the Caly and straighten the spine line the Endura. Thoughts?

sal

I think offering one or more additional blade shapes would increase the potential market. Perhaps that should be done first, since it would be less costly to implement. As for the choil, a deeper one probably wouldn't hurt, although I've never had a finger slip forward onto the blade while using a Stretch. I just don't see the Caly 3.5's choil as being significantly deeper or better than the Stretch's, so I'm not sure how many would even notice the change. If it was possible to give the Stretch a choil like the Native, Sage, Chaparral, or UKPK, that would be a different story.

Couple mockups of potential blade shapes:

I LOVE the profiles of #1 and #2 so much. Would definitely purchase a few

Hi FCM415, Switching makers is something we rarely do and there must be a very good reason. Many factors i9nvolved that are not immediately apparent; pride of the maker, loyalty, etc.

I'm a long time lurker, new to posting. I would purchase something along the lines of #1 or #2 with a more conventional spine (a swedge would be awesome). I'd honestly buy a cheaper version in FRN in VG10 AND an upscale version in VG10 w/g10 or cf scales or maybe even cocbolo. ($150 or less price range). different colorations of FR like the delica/endura would be really cool. BEAUTIFUL pics.

I just converted my off duty EDC from Endura/Delica's to a Stretch. Picked it up LNIB off the exchange (black FRN with VG10) and I am in love with this thing. What an incredible knife, I think Mockup #1 would be one of the most perfect folders ever made.
