Strider Knives, Game Over!

From POWNET's email to the SSA:

"AND IF NOT US, WHO CAN WE DIRECT THE IG TO
CONTACT?"

I've got the feeling that if the IG (Inspector General) of the Marine Corps gets involved, this is going to get even uglier then it already is.

When the honor, integrity, and reputation of the Marine Corps, Organizations within it, and maybe even individual Marines is at stake, it's necessary.

There can be no impropriety, or even appearance of it, when it comes to the dealings of Our Corps, its organizations and its Marines.

Now you're seeing the bigger picture. I can confirm that Government Agencies are currently taking a look into this. I can also confirm that some people are trying to cover their tracks and put distance between themselves and this situation. While some Active Duty Marines have been very helpful and honest when asked questions others have slammed the door in the faces of people who only wanted the truth, it appears some hands are dirty and some people have something to hide.

Sharky, Its not my intention to insult anyone who has served or is currently serving in the military, you and myself both know that some people have tried to cover the trail for both Duane Dwyer and Mick Strider and everything that was going on around the Base concerning Lakis and the Scout Sniper Association. I greatly appreciate you setting the record straight about Lakis just as I stated earlier, its unfortunate that everyone who was involved did not choose your path of just telling the truth as there is no dishonor in being deceived but there is dishonor in deception. There is a connection between Lakis, Dwyer/Poland and Strider/Burger and there are some people involved in it who still have reasons to slam doors in peoples faces who are asking questions. Even now your own forum has come under attack because you guys told the truth on a simple yes or no question.

Now that this ship has sailed it will not be coming back to port and it is clear to me that some active duty Marines stand a good chance of walking the plank for their involvement.

At this point I don't know what else needs to be said.

It is pretty firmly established now that both Mick Strider and Duane Dwyer are liars and posers. Why did they do this? What was the agenda?

Were they jealous of the guys that had actually been there and done that? Or was it just a way to make a fast buck, while stealing the valor of actual operators like Bob Horrigan, who died on his last tour in Iraq? Or did they just think they would not get caught if they were careful enough? I can not answer these questions.

One thing is certain - they did not give a damn about doing the right thing. Words like "honor" or "integrity" or "accountability" or even "faith" were just empty talk. Even when caught repeatedly, lying was still the first choice.

It is especially sad that guys that have walked the walk got suckered and conned. Lord knows I wasn't the first person fooled by them, nor the last, so please don't target Mahwhinney or others that were duped; save your ire for the liars themselves and those the choose to aid and support deciet. There are no excuses left at this point.

Nor is there any cause for celebration or gloating; this is a shameful period for us as a community. This is not about credit. Or bragging rights. Or "jealousy" "competitors" "agedas" or "grudges". It was about stopping liars from using the blood and sweat of servicemen as a sleazy way to market themselves.

A lot of people could have stepped up earlier. The right thing could have been done repeatedly, but I understand; peer pressure is tough. Freebies earn leeway. Money talks. It can be tough to tell a friend they are doing wrong. A number of people enabled this.

I'm closing this thread. I'm posting from my phone, so pardon any spelling & grammar errors.
