Strider let down

Rock lock, late lock up, loose pivots are accepted, as Strider and a lot of the EU's consider them "working knives" and a "hard use, working knives" don't need to be perfect.

I disagree with your statement. If I work hard for my money and save my money and spend the kind of money that Strider seems to command then it had better be worth the money. There is no excuse for sloppy work and incompetence. It's utter arrogance to put out the garbage that this particular outfit is infamous for and ask the prices they are asking. If I was given the choice, I would pick an offshore Spyderco or some other brand before I would spend that kind of money. It's not fair to those of ya'll that have worked hard and saved for a knife or any other product for that matter and be disappointed with item you receive after paying a premium for a name. That's just my opinion for what it is worth.

I'm betting that if I sent my Strider to one of the enthusiasts that they would have no issues with it.

If your going to expect dead on centered blades and ideal lock percentage than get a CRK. Why get a Strider if you know theres a chance of you not being happy.
But complaining they are not worth the price but buying them anyways is little goofy. People love to compare Striders with CRK and Hinderer because they are near
the same price. Holding Striders up to CRK standards. Well hate to break it to you but you'll be disappointed.

I've only owned one Strider and it was damn near perfect. One of the few knives I regret letting go. I've also owned one Hinderer, and I was more disappointed in that than the Strider.

I bought again because I really like the way it looks and forgot. I still want a PT because I like smaller knives but not getting 3 strikes.

Then why get a Strider unless your stupid like me and want the knife just because of its looks when comparing it to a Hinderer or CRK at the same price?

That depends...would I have to give it back? :D
I can forgive a lot of faults in a free knife. ;)

Yeah, you'd have to give it back. I'd feel bad letting someone else use a faulty knife *Jab* I'm probably going to eventually sell it with a big discount. I want a 3" Hinderer wharnie flipper that I've been eyeing. Although I said I wouldn't buy anymore for a while. I can't help myself.

Sucks about your knife, OP. Hope the one you get back is perfect. For that kind of money, it better be.

Put me on the Lucky SOB list also. I've only had 2, but both perfect. My SnG CC is the best modern folder I have ever owned and the only one I've kept this long. The heat treat & stonewash is superb. No lock rock, no lock stick, centered blade, smooth & a pleasure to use. It is an expensive knife that I use hard without worry. I cannot say that about all the expensive knives I've owned. I also like that it stays sharper much longer than some of those others as well. I have been tempted more than once to pass it around, but I don't want to take any chance in it "getting lost in the mail" ;)

Not my statement per se, that comes from Mick Strider, various Strider FAQ's and many EU's who worship the brand.

To me, you can't really compare strider and CRK. Yea sure they're both ti frame locks but Strider is a knife that built to be badass and tough and CRK is built to be elegant and refined. I plan on obtaining both of these in the future because I like the features of each, not that one is better than the other.

Never got one, wouldn't get one. I am not a troll or hate monger, I just feel bad for you folks who have been disappointed after spending your hard earned money. I would like to try a CRK Sebenza or an Umnumzaan. Just don't know how it would work for me being a 2xl glove size.

You need at least a 4" blade with those bananas.

Not as often as some would have people believe really.

MOST of the supposed issues are not backed up with photos to prove they actually own the knives, and I am talking about current photos, not old ones that have been reposted over and over again.

As with most things that are expensive there will be people would will troll against them and MOST of it is complete BS, people parroting and telling fairy tails.

Actually owning one and able to really back it up, that doesn't happen all that often in reality.

We are not talking about $100 knives here, dropping $400 - $600 on a folder is not really for everyone.

So without current photos to prove they own it, it's a fairy tail.

Even with photos, sometimes criticism just isn't allowed for certain companies. Sounds like Strider is not on that list. Or maybe it is.

I doubt most people would have an issue if the person could prove that they actually owned the knife in question, since this is the internet photos are the only way to actually prove they own it.

Without photos to back it up they don't own it. ;)

Especially the expensive knives like Strider, CRK, Hinderer etc, those aren't cheap knives.

The problem is MOST that gripe never owned one or likely ever saw one in real life so they make up stories or repeat something they read.

Sure some have real problems just like any other brand as things do get through sometimes, and they are directed to the right source to have the problem fixed.

Like this thread, the OP has photos and nobody is blasting him at all.

I never had a problem with striders

Nice.

The only one I really miss is the SmF CC Stone Wash, the other 4 not so much, I will get another one to replace it someday. :)

But then I have a CRK Sebenza 25 heading my way soon so who knows. :D

My strider SnG has the slightest lock rock but is otherwise perfect with double gunner grip. On the topic of CRK, I have the Umnumzaan and the Sebenza 21. Both are unbelievably tight and....just perfect fit and finish. In my opinion, you get more bang for your buck with an Umnumzaan vs an SnG. Both can be had for around the same price on the exchange on a good day. And for a curveball, I have a ZT0561 and the thing is amazing for the price. Locks up like a safe, perfectly centered blade, came as sharp or sharper than any knife I've bought before. Just waiting to see how the ELMAX fairs over time.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to opinion.
