Strider Marketing Joke

From where did you hear this from? I didn't see anything on USN...
Rather, from where did the OP hear that Strider was to continue operating as if nothing happened? Is Josh is now heading Strider by himself or is Mick going back and forth between MSC and Strider?

Stider hard use knives!!! please....maybe to 17yr old boys. Anyone with an ounce of structural common sense about knives knows they are just another bunch of posing man jewelry. Lets not bull$hit about what hard use actually means. Cutting? hard use cutting? like what? are you cutting diamonds? concrete? again please...the fantasy of "hard use" involves prying, torquing, stabbing and chopping your way free from a downed stealth fighter jet behind enemy lines. Along with all sorts of silly things you shouldn't do with a folder, and lets be honest, do all that with a frame lock (especially one like a Strider with one side of the G10 scale only posing as a stop rest for the stop pins) and you'll have a rattly bag of bolts for a knife. Sounds harsh, and i'm being a bit of an ass, but i just don't care for Strider or their work ethic.

Sorry I would hard use this strider custom but I don't want to scratch up the elite ultimate special edition finish.

Its like trying to put candy apple red paint on a Sherman tank and trying to sell it as a sports car (which would actually be awsome come to think of it)

But honestly I guess there is a huge market for "hard use" operative knives dolled up with a wig on them. I'd be lying if I didn't admit some of them are cool. On the really real though it would be nice if Strider Knives would focus on making knives and keep out of the B.S. game.

I don't know how well his company would have done if it wasn't for all the lies. That whole Ranger operative thing worked for him. (I find it disgusting to lie about that so I am in no way justifying what Strider did)

Well, I'm not 17 (40 years old and still alive), and if I want to wear jewellery, I wear my jewellery rather than pretending a knife is one.

I have used my Strider folders in the woods for "bushcrafty" tasks, and (shockingly!) they cut things like a knife.
Go figure.
I have also used them for some prying, because the blade would take it (moderate prying, not prying apart logs).

I will not bother posting pictures, because getting invested in a Strider thread on Bladeforums is a great way to become annoyed. ;)

So here is a Medford being "hard-used"...I know you don't like them either. :D

And the hardest use of all...battling the wild Woods Lobster!!!

When I was in Prince Edward Island they sold carry on lobsters by the airport so you could fly them home with you in a little box.

I actually like the Strider knives, which is why all the BS behind the company is a shame. I just honestly wonder if Strider would have become a "household" name without the BS marketing.

Just a note to where the news came from. Mick made an instagram post, I thought it was a bit weird in the wording, initially about the closing of "Strider Inc." "25 years and out". Anyway, he said in the post that Strider would be selling the last of their inventory at blade show only and then if you wanted a strider knife you would have to go through MSC "classic line" which as of now seems to only have an SNG and SMF as options. He made it seem that all future strider designed knives would be made by mick himself and thus it was inferred very limited in numbers and high in price. Mick also said that MSC is taking on all Strider warranty work. Then at blade show Josh made the announcement that they would be producing more knives at higher quantities. All dealers ran out of strider products before blade show but now Josh is posting instagram stuff from production and some stuff is starting to show up at dealers. If anyone knows different please correct me but it just seems like a load of crap to me. They were even selling 25 years and out t-shirts and stuff at blade show.

Im 17 and would love me a Strider! Haha to me they just look great and that lifetime service plan rocks. Just need to save up more...

1st Strider is closing and last knives will all be sold at blade show. Then Duane is just leaving and they will produce more knives than ever with no change at all? What is really going on? I am a bit pissed because I feel they are lying to their base just to sell knives.
I think there are some internal politics between the two. this is possibly why things are happening the way they are. heard it on a knife podcast.

Not sure what Josh's statement was, but if the new product is under the MSC classic line, then there is no change. You misinterpreted the original statements. The MSC classic line was always going to be production(not custom or mid tech, which are already done by MSC). The actual volume of that line was not stated originally and was open to much speculation. That lack of a firm production number is what led to the panic buying. Customers worried there would not be enough future supply for their wants.
The only conflicting statement that I see is a much earlier(maybe a couple years now) statement by Mick S. that he was opening MSC to get back to his roots of making knives rather then running a large company. This was at the time they split to Strider knives, MSC and DD Knives. If they are going to produce more then Strider ever did this goal has certainly vanished.
That is at least what I have gathered

I'm not able to confirm, nor deny my source of information at this time, but from I heard (though a friend of a friend in the business), is: the production crew of the show "Naked & Afraid," all carried Strider knives while they were filming in the remote hostile extremes of the Amazon jungle.

Secondly: If Strider's and Medford knives are good enough for my favorite BF idol, Stabman, they're sure in the hell good enough for me.

I'm thinking of heading over to Ponto's State beach in about an hour for my first salt water therapy in a long time. I plan on laying out on my beach towel, and I'm thinking of bringing along either my Praetorian or SMF, to lay next to me. I'd be more than happy to post a picture later, if anyone would like. :D
