Warning for insults
Considering how lax enforcement of counterfeit laws are, I can't imagine many better ways to have handled this situation, besides maybe mentioning the whole incident to BLADE organizers so as to make sure that the vendor is never welcomed back. Considering how much counterfeits hurt our knife community and industry, I love the way they handled the situation. If that makes me a degenerate POS, then so be it I guess...
With all due respect, I can't help but wonder if you'd be responding this way if it was any other maker involved. Can't help but wonder about whatever double standards may or may not be at play here.
Also there were a few other respected people involved in this situation and putting it all on Mick doesn't seem very cool to me. Regardless of whatever BS happened because of a thread posted over 10 years ago, my brief experiences with him show he's a pretty decent human being. Questionable marketing aside (and also long past?), his designs and work speak for themselves and the fact that he continues to stand by his products is worthy of at least some merit, IMHO.

Since 9/11 I've been fortunate to have met several USMC hero's from Camp Pendleton (guys who made multiple deployments over to the M.E.). These guys were very appreciative, the fact that Strider Knives gave so many knives to the men who were laying their lives on the line, fighting and dying for our Country.
You won't read about any of this here, because Strider Knives was working and offering this behind the scene's- supporting our Troops.
I don't think Strider gives a rat's a-- about what a bunch of people who live camped out under their shelter half in front of their computer all day...keystroking big word's, think. Guy's who are probably on some type of permanent disability (mental health issues), taking anti-depressants, getting a free ride/paycheck, and stay home all day. The same type of person, the color yellow, makes sad. v
Strider is not closing due to lack of success. It has been very successful regardless of the controversy. It was a partnership and both partners now have moved on to their own companies. Since neither partner planed to be involved with running Strider Knives they felt it fitting to close( there may be more to it, but that is the official memo). They will continue on making knives just not together. Mick Strider will continue to make variations of his designs (production, mid tech and custom).Duane seems to have modified the design he is using, thus removing the need to license from Mick Strider. You are in no way getting rid of the 2 behind Strider knives, just the Strider knives name.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for all the response and I have enjoyed the drama. I still would like to know if anyone knows anything concrete about what is happening with strider? Like a press release type of thing. Other than micks initial and the "25 and out" crap they sold, is there anything official?
^ I'm sure you have.
You probably didn't know this either, Rambo: Col. Sam Trautman, carried a Strider.![]()
