Strider PT. 30 disappointing minutes.

I'll give ya 10 bucks for it. Just say the word. I'll even pay shipping.

Honey of deal? Too good to pass up? I thought so.

C'mon man, you're breakin' my balls here.

Okay 20 bucks.

20 bucks, take it or leave it. That lock could break and really hurt you. You don't wanna take that kinda chance with your health, let somebody like me lose a finger.

Okay 25 BUT THAT'S AS HIGH AS I'LL GO.

You didn't even get a box. All you got was a plastic knock-off Zip-loc, see what kinda crap they're pawning off on you? 25 bucks man. Seriously. PM me, dawg. I'm just tryin' to cut a deal, whaddaya want me to do? I can't pay you full price for a--clearly defective--knife, c'mon man, my kid's gotta eat, too...;):D

Where do you live? Zimbabwe?!

I bet you have an e-bay store, don't you? ;):D

Ziplock bags are designed to keep moisture out.

I think theres something in that for all of us.

(Think deep water insertions etc)

love my PT CC...

Mine didn't come in a ziplock bag or even in a shipping box. The address tag was wired to the opening hole with bailing wire.

If anything, what the OP expected is exactly what you get with maker's who market to civilians - pretty boxes, large pieces of paper with sales brochure and sharpening instructions, and customer service phone banks with sexy voices to die for.

Umm, Strider bids DOD contracts and provides equipment - knives - to specification for the Marines, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, etc. Contract requirements are usually for a plastic bag if anything. I've gotten my share of issue items in less than a cardboard box or without instructions - like M16, M9's, M249's, Mk 19's, bayonets, web gear, etc. What we did get for instructions was a few years in training. I wasn't a quick learner, it took me 22 years to figure some of it out.

Buying a piece of duty gear does imply that the user will understand the appropriate methods of maintenance, care, and use. Most Strider owners who are otherwise qualified for duty gear understand what's up.

It's the civilian owners who find things not as expected - and a civilian knife is probably a lot more of what they could use, like a Sebenza. Hey, you get a leather sheath with that, a birth certificate, and expectations of perfection with tolerances to .0001".

I will suggest that most other knife owners don't use knives the way service members use Striders, and so a lot of the thinking behind them isn't understood. That's OK, they don't have a need to know, and sure prove it.

What's disappointing is seeing so many buy a knife like a Strider thinking owning one makes them as tough as the knife. Just like a tricked out AR, maybe they are actually doing themself a disservice. All the farkle and bling won't make them a spec ops vet anymore than Paul Blart, nor will their opinion on what is one.

That community is a closed subject to outsiders looking in, and sure doesn't need anybody's approval of who they hang with.

Buying a Strider and not getting a box is like buying a HMMWV and not getting air conditioning. You get a useful tool, and that's it - that's the mystique if you will. Gosh, I sure miss the commonsense of it . . .

What you explain sounds to me like a perfect lock up. Especially for strider. Instructions? What instructions do you need? you open and close it. that it. What you need to know? how to cut?
Try this to see what you need to know about Strider lock, and also Strider warranty. It is the best there is. you can break that knife then give to someone else and it will still get fixed. who else in the knife world does that? I had a Spyderco that the lovk back wasn't engaging so I wanted to send it in. they said I have to pay $50+ because I have no "paper work" and I not "Origional owner"? Who hardly in the world is first only owner. knife change hands all the time, but once change hadnds, gets company out of fixing knife. NOT STRIDER!!!
But for your Question, sounds to me like you have Perfect lock up. look at this- Edited out cross forum link.

From what I've seen, John T Wylie Jr builds a pretty fine knife himself. I still need to ping him to see what I can get into. You should see some of his work.

Oh Yes, One More thing, I Got No Zip bag either:confused: Just a Perfect Folding knife with numbered tag attached in brown box with very little "Popcorn"

I was upset they did not put too much popcorn in brown box. But My Knife is perfect and has served me for 4 years. No Problem except sometimes when I take out and use, people want to see and hold it.:D

Whoa, Mr Wylie, I did not know you make Knife too. I am new here.

I just went to home page and I think you might be my new favorite Maker of Knives!!!!:D:thumbup:

I dont think the problem lies with Strider knives or the people who run the place. They build knives, apparently decent ones that work...along with countless other companies doing the same thing. I think some of the anti-Strider views are more due to "some" of their fans.

"They dont suffer fools lightly"...they will suffer your money ok though, hopefully your question isnt stupid...ask one of their fans first. I dont suffer their rude fans lightly.

So your knife is scratched up and does not come with a box...A Sebenza, Spyderco, Benchmade, Buck, Cold Steel and countless others come nice and clean and have a box....or "frills" as the Strider fans call them, therefore they must not be made for those who go-and-do.

Striders are made for and used by troops in "The Sandbox"...so are Bucks, Cold Steel, SOG, Blackjack, RAT and again, countless other companies.

I wish I had a car dealership to sell cars to some of the Strider fans. "Look here buddy, I got this 4x4...yep, dents in it and some paint gone...a/c dont work and the exhaust has a hole in it so you can hear it 3 miles away...but its made for "operators"...dont mind that Jeep across the street that is brand new and shiny...only a dork needs those frills....and besides, this beat up piece of crap costs a lot more and we even tossed the owners manual in the trash!!!"

So, you own a Strider?
