Sub-hilt Fighter Progression

Not going to college is a HUGE decision, and one with potential repercussions that are often not realized for some time. There is no question in my mind that going to college opens up the possibility for opportunities that might not otherwise exist, but...college is not for everyone. And going back to school later in life when you have a family to support and other obligations can be a lot more difficult than it is when you are 18. Been there, tried that.

All that said, nobody can decide that someone else should go to college; it is up to the individual. What I can pretty much guarantee is that if Kyle chooses to not go to school now and is going to forge ahead (:p) with knifemaking, he will be giving a 110% effort. As talented as he is, he will still need to put forth a Heculean effort to realize his potential, and we should support his choice even though it might not be our own. We all do want him to succeed, but how that is achieved is up to him.

the going to college i'd have to agree is an individual decision, which differs from person to person. I personally started , but quit to work......a minium wage job:(, but then moved on to better jobs, picked up a trade, and since it's been a feast or famine lifestyle. I have had years where breaking a 5 figure income was almost impossible to do, and others where it was a breeze to reach nearly 6 figures for the year.

on the other end of the spectrum, i know several people who have been through 6-8yrs of school, and and have various degrees, and dont make nearly what they thought they would, and have huge bills for school to pay...

i think it all depends on how you want to live and the lifestyle that your "comfortable" with.......which is my problem, once aquiring and paying for the things i needed in life , I became happy to just get by. Which isnt something for everyone, but i dont mind, so long as im doing what i enjoy.
sorry to ramble:p and good luck in whatever you do!!;)

First, thank you for the informative videos and the snapshot into your life as a knifemaker. This has been a great thread.

Second...107 hours?!?!?! Let that serve as an illustration to everyone who ever thought that custom knives were "overpriced" that they have no idea what really goes into making such a great piece.

Thanks Kyle and Caleb, The two of you did a superb job on those videos.

Kyle, that is in my opinion the finest knife you have made.
